2011 WRX STI key coding

The battery in my keyless entry transponder has gone flat and I need to change the battery. Subaru are telling me that they will need to re-code the key for me! Is there a method of doing this myself? I know with some manufactures the proceedure is to lock and unlock the car with the key itself!

I think I have a spare.. but i can't find it, and I can't get the car to a dealers unless i have it transported! :(

assuming you are running smart entry with push button start, Just split the fob and change the battery and it will work straight away.

Smart Entry = CODED FOR LIFE.

if the battery ever fails in the fob, simply open the car with the key part enter your 4 digit pin into the keypad to deactivate the alarm, Hold the fob over the push button start and away you go.

As I have an aftermarket cat1 alarm, my Subaru fob lives in my glove box.

So, I can just go and get a repacment battery from Halfrauds and just swap it over? Well I have nothing to lose in trying!:)

yep if its the black fob with the 3 buttons and you are on push button start then just change the battery, If your keeping the fob in the car a word of caution. this will drain the fob battery and the car battery over a period of time as they both communicate with each other all the time

Job jobbed, thanks!:)

I wonder how much the dealer would have wanted to do that?

I keep the Subaru fob in the car so I don't have to carry it and the Sigma one too.. and it sets the alarm off if it's in my pocket and i walk past the car!:(

automatic locking.

Does anybody know the code for the automatic door locking as you leave the vehicle, instead of using the fob or the button on the door.

Im guessing you just pump the code in and follow the same procedure as for setting up the anti hijack.
