My scoob pops..

Hi

I've owned the car a few months now and I'm experiencing a loud pop when I increase my speed changing gear up it seems to do it...

The car has a dump valve and a full exhaust system but I do not believe its been mapped. I since owning it have had it fully serviced and an upgraded panel filter installed.

I'm concerned that the popping could be causing any damage? Is it over fuelling?

Sorry if these sound like obvious questions but I'm not the most savviest when it comes to mechanics

Can anyone advise...? I've been considering a re map hoping this may solve the problem but don't want to throw £350 ish for nothing

Thanks in advance :)

sometimes a dump valve and exhaust alone can cause popping and banging not something to worry about in fact a lot of people like it! as long as its from the exhaust

Mine has started doing it since I fitted a vta dump valve and it's getting more and more frequent. I do have a hole in the welds around my lambda sensor in the decat. It's actually getting welded up tomorrow so al se if it stops with that welded up.

Vta will cause pops. Due to over fueling. The dump valve chucks the air away the ecu thinks is still there. Voila too much fuel. Voila POP!

Av heard that but when first fitted was once a fortnight it would pop now it's often can almost make it do it. And it pops when the valve hasn't vented as it just chatters on low boost. Hard to explain but sure it's cos the hole in the weld. Time will tell.
