Dunno if this is just on WRX's, but in the passenger footwell, sort of underneath the bottom of the dashboard, near the door,
there's a black plastic clip thingy, which looks as if it should be securing something.

Has my wiring loom gone disastrously wrong, or does somebody know what it is actually intended for? I think i'll believe anything, by the way, having been told that the small hook on the lefthand side of the boot is
supposed to be there to secure a shopping bag. Purleeease!!

Hi there,

Its on imports only...

Its the clip to hold the emergency flare in place.

Most cars when they are imported tend to lose these flares... (or when they go to Wales) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Witnessed a flare been lobbed from a Toyota Lucida on the N.Circ once.
Must have caused a fair bit of dry cleaning....... is it legal to carry one in the car here in the UK.????? could be handy in a naughty situation...!!!

Ive still got mine.
Mines up for sale at a price busting £1200.
Any import is not complete without one, and I can assure any interested buyers that it is a major contributor to keeping your residules up.

also the clip in the back is to secure shopping bags coz the legacys have it as well.

My WRX still has the flare....

....should you declare this when travelling through the Channel Tunnel?!

MorayMackenzie 17 April 2001 12:54 AM

According to Richard Grimes, (Driving Instructor for Essex Police IIRC), the flare is technically a firearm and should be surrendered to your local constabulary. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

I could offer mine for the cut-my-own-throat-dibbler price of £999 ( http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif ) but that would technically make me an arms dealer, so I won't. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I've still got mine, i was going to launch it back on Fire work night but as there were no English instructions on it I put it back in the garage locker.

Didn't really fancy blowing myself up!!
