fastest Non-Forged 1/4 mile time?

As above really was just wondering who holds this title, hoping people be honest as sure loads are running forged pistons etc nowadays, im on about genuine std non forged bottom ends..

Who's quickest?

Davey

BIG FUD 06 August 2012 09:21 PM

Ive done 11.8 at totb standard engine 2.0 litre in new age .

jayallen 06 August 2012 09:23 PM

Andy Forrest's Classic WRX RA back in the early 2000's?

Bob Rawle 06 August 2012 09:28 PM

Andy's engine back then wasn't strictly standard for the car though, he had a set STi forged pistons in it iirc. It still went well whatever though.

cheers

bob

Newage wrx? Newage Sti doesnt count as obviously forged or hypo pistons which are another thing alltogether.

So Andy F's time doesnt count either, anyone else?

MattyB1983 06 August 2012 10:47 PM

If that's the case, don't think may people would dare of fear to break the box on launch.
However if it's a rolling start I'd be up for it lol

Yeah and wrx type ra's, the cars that came with non-forged pistons etc

MattyB1983 06 August 2012 11:03 PM

I ran a 14 dead many many years ago in a 1995 WRX. Was standard apart from a fancy back box and a slightly slipping clutch.
Plus I couldn't drive for love nor money, was first ever go on the strip.

Davey96wrx 06 August 2012 11:05 PM

can you remember if you launched it or rolled off line then booted it?

MattyB1983 06 August 2012 11:35 PM

Rolled it

Hang on a minute, am I miss reading some comments above.

Do new WRX's have tougher engines than the classics? I've heard they do off people, but dismissed it.

What's the difference on a stock newage WRX engine to a Classic's?

scubbay 07 August 2012 07:30 AM

13.0 here in a completely standard WRX RA

super_ted 07 August 2012 07:46 AM

I've just done a 13.3 at the pod this weekend. Standard wrx internals in a newage wagon, bigger turbo tho.

All newage impreza's have much better design of conrods and better material, so a newage wrx can manage 400hp good job as they need all the help they can get to move their fat arses, but you'll need a six speed box.

Davey96wrx 07 August 2012 08:59 AM

So then the start of a list.

1. Scubbay 13 WRX RA
2. Super_ted 13.3 Newage Wagon
3. Mattyb1983 14 1995 WRX

Guys as this will be a leader board do have slips or vids to back up the times? Cheers

MattyB1983 07 August 2012 10:54 AM

No slip for mine mate as it was a few years ago.

Also, I wouldn't fancy putting 400bhp through a WRX motor unless I had the funds to repair/replace when it let go.

scubbay 07 August 2012 10:58 AM

I do have a slip, god knows where it is now though as it was over a year ago and have got many slips for my other car in between times. I may be able to download the results from the event.

rajscoob 07 August 2012 11:13 AM

I managed to run a 12.29 on a Version 3 WRX running 352/340

ac1867 07 August 2012 11:51 AM

I managed a 12.88 in my old UK T2000 Wagon running 330/330.

That was at RAF Odiham, never got to run it on Santa Pods nice flat sticky tarmac, as I sold it but should of been able to go a wee bit quicker.

mark type ra 07 August 2012 05:11 PM

I run a 12.7 1/4mile @104mph on standard internals car was un- mapped running 1.1bar in my RA

1. rajscoob 12.29
2. Mark type ra 12.7 WRX RA
3. ac1867 12.88
4. Scubbay 13 WRX RA
5. Super_ted 13.3 Newage Wagon
6. Mattyb1983 14 1995 WRX

Some really great times, proves you realistically don't need to go forged to have a quick car!!

When I get back from work I'll rewrite the table, but Raj is in the lead..
