Isolator Switch Wiring
 

I'm looking at buying this isolator switch for my track car:

When wiring it up, how can i wire it so it cuts the car off, will one set of terminals need to be the battery cut off and another set of terminals be wired to the ignition wire?

If it's not wired to the ignition the car will carry on running on the alternator will it not?

Also where do you install the resistor so it doesn't damage the alternator if cut off?

The number 2 connectors do not have to be between the ignition barrel and the igniton coil (as you probably want to remove the ignition barrel, seeing your other topic)
you can also cut the ignitor wire at the ECU, and put the Number 2 contacts there.

Perfect, is the main electrical feed circuit the fuse boxs or does it just mean the main wire feeding the fuse boxes and all?

Can the number 1 contacts just be a join in the main feed wire before the fuse boxes?

The main electrical feed is the wire going from the positive terminal on the battery to the rest of the car.
Simply put, you take the wire that is now connected to the + terminal, and cut of the ring/end, but leave about 15 cm of wiring connected to the ring/connector, so you'll have some wire to work with.

To that 15cm of wiring solder enough wire to reach the switch.

Then solder the same length to the end of the wire where you cut of the connector, and connect that to the other large terminal of the switch.
To this piece of wire you also connect a thinner wire, that goes to the number 1 contact.

Phew, It's been quite some time since I installed mine, I used one size up from the stock wiring.
Instead of getting the expensive car audio wires, you can get high quality, supply and thick enough wire at a shop that supplies welding equipment.
I bought 6 meters of the stuff in such a shop for less then half it would have cost me
to buy at a car audio place.
