Want an impreza
I have been looking around and thought the uk300 2001 models seem nice but the plan is to rip everything out not needed and use as it a track day car so i dont want to destroy a possible collecters car of the future:Whatever_
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for as i dont want to splash out between £2 on an older but with lots of work done with a good strong engine or £4.5k on a uk300 car only to have bought a bag of crap.:Suspiciou I have never owned a performance car but after one track day in an Escort Cosworth im hooked on wanting a track day car. What im after knowing is are there any pitfalls with particular models or anything to lookout for when buying. Thanks in advance. Mille |
try and find a cheap 6 speed newage (bugeye) sti, something that needs work, mot failure, cat c/d repaired or needs cosmetics. It will be a better starting point for a track car than a 5 speed or WRX.
Failing that, a classic is lighter so you dont need as much power to have fun and theres bags to choose from, but again, look for a stronger engined Sti. |
Forget the UK300 its nothing special....4.5k will get you a Bug STI, a far far superior car.

Having owned a UK300 I wouldn't have another, there nice to look at, but at the end of the day they are a WRX with some better styling. They are certainly not a track toy.
hope that helps. Advice to find a 2001+ STI is sound advice. Rob Ps I'm 40 mins from Manchester if you want to test my car out, oh and it might be for sale soon ;) |
