Playbook

Ok 130 quid ,I succumbed :o

Is there still/is/ever will be a way to use firefox to view my bank share account, maybe sideloading somehow. Don't know much bout this.

No Skype either but seems to be possibilities work round this

An0n0m0us 05 August 2012 11:58 AM

2.1 will allegedly fix the Skype/android camera apps however it wasn't released this week as anticipated.

I'm tempted at this price for my teenage Son but 2.0 is still too restrictive on android support for my liking hence desperate to see what 2.1 will bring.

dpb 05 August 2012 12:23 PM

Too much 'alledgedly' for me, I'm kind of ruuing decision presently

Do any these tabs have dnla. Btw.

dpb 06 August 2012 08:17 AM

boomer 06 August 2012 10:41 PM

I can't help with your Qs, but just wanna say how jealous i am 'cos i bought a 16GB version for £170 a few weeks ago and you can now get the 32GB for less :(

Nice solid bit of kit though (with a few freebie games thrown in). Great for keeping by the telly for when you want to check something out :thumb:

Hey, don't be jealous of that - I got given mine for free :D

dpb 09 August 2012 11:45 AM

Surely Skype will be on the next incarnation....?

What a massive own goal ,ffs you can even get it on iPad now.

No point at all having decent cameras

'7' 10 August 2012 01:31 PM

there are aspects of the playbook that are absolutely brilliant and others that are dreadful. If the ipad could take the best parts of the playbook then I'd be happy.

Like what?

The gestures predominantly. Swiping up and down, no home button (which Steve Jobs disliked too apparently), the hdmi output. The ability to be able to use my phone to act as a remote control for the playbook. Bridge is fantastic for dividing work/play. Proper multi tasking.

The downside is no apps being developed for it, the size, the ridiculous amount of time it takes to switch on/off, battery life compared to the ipad.

I own both and use the ipad most but as I say, a mixture of both would be the best product in the world.

Ant 10 August 2012 03:41 PM

Oh know you said 'multitasking'!

I know! I regret it already.

It is entirely different on the 2 devices and Jack knows that.

dpb 10 August 2012 04:46 PM

Have to learn to live with it now, they spotted I'd used it , bloody had to register.

If it ever gets Skype /I can use my banks Site ill be more than happy, and 1/3 price of ifail

Hdmi ,flash, about a third quicker at rendering Web pages

dpb 10 August 2012 05:07 PM

Handier size, third of the price, better camera(s)

dpb 10 August 2012 05:24 PM

Way better speakers

JackClark 10 August 2012 05:41 PM

I'll give you the speakers, the price and the size. iPad does HDMI, beat the Playbook at browsing on Crackberry, has a better camera - New iPad - and Flash is **** and can't keep the **** away from my devices :)

But for £100 it's a bargain.

But you'll ignore the rest of the benefits I mentioned :lol1:

Sorry, didn't even see them. Just for you...

Gestures, iPad has those, three finger pinch to exit an app, three fingers down to show the app list negating the need for the home button, unless you want to close apps. HDMI, iPad has that, admittedly you need to buy an adaptor, but then again why would you when you can buy an Apple TV and have the whole iPad on TV wireless. Remote control, probably could, but why? Bridge I like. Proper Multitasking... hmm, I'll stick with my non proper and battery conservation.

Other than that great for £100.

'7' 10 August 2012 06:16 PM

I agree, the ipad is the clear winner and everyone else is just a contender but there really are some parts of other products that I prefer (but would want in the ipad rather than the other way round).

Funny thing is 2 years ago no-one else could see why we liked the ipad so much and just thought they were a big iphone, now everyone is on the band wagon :lol1:

JackClark 10 August 2012 06:24 PM

I'd like better speakers, the iPad is surprisingly good but everything can be improved. Multiuser would be good too, perhaps coming next month.

'7' 10 August 2012 08:40 PM

At the end of the day, so long as I can watch the Carly Rae Jepson sex tape on it then I'm happy whether it's Apple, Blackberry or Android :lol1:

That's nothing to do with what you are using, Duncan. You get automatically signed up if you want to be automatically signed up.

You can log yourself out from anywhere on anything, and then you won't automatically be signed up to anything; unless you had ticked the box "log me in automatically" or "Keep me signed in" or "do you want fartbook to remember your password" or something like that. So that's a fail, Duncs. Just admit that you didn't know how to log yourself out, and you didn't know that you could un-tick yourself. :D

tony de wonderful 10 August 2012 11:21 PM

Why would u need multi user for an IPad?

You can use google incognito to browse scat porn without your gf/bf/wife,knowing.:lol1:

For someone like yourself - web browser - that might be enough, some of us do interesting things that they'd rather not give others full access to.
