2005 Widetrack Definitive 400 bhp thread

OK guys base car is an unmodded widetrack 2005 STI PPP. I know this thread has been done before but it tends to get convoluted between sub 400bhp and over 400bhp which makes an awful difference to mods and the wallet. This thread is for the best mods to achieve up to 400bhp. I look forward to your advice.

am also interested in this, just got my 05 sti ppp last week and will be looking to upping the power slightly

craigyp 01 August 2012 09:41 PM

Mine a 05 sti with fmic.md321t. Gt spec headers.Harvey smith up pipe all wrapped.. 650 injectors.full 3" de cat from turbo.290 hrc fuel pump. Ks tech mega maf induction with cold air feed through fog cover.DV delete.3 port solenoid. Think thats it. Running around 430 mark

Dan- 01 August 2012 09:45 PM

thanks for that!! is there much different in that turbo to the vf35 fitted as thats a damn big turbo already :P

craigyp 01 August 2012 09:54 PM

God yes!!!! It's more suited for the 2.5's but having mine billeted soon so less lag

Dan- 01 August 2012 10:08 PM

reason i asked is my mates are all into the glanza imports and he said he's got a TD05 on his running 280HP he said an 05 should be good for up to 320? so when he saw my vf35 he almost blew over it :P

Does it lag like mad now then does it, i think the vf has some lag doesn't seem to do anything till 4k revs

The standard turbo on yours roughly will take you to 330-340 I think.. mine kicks in full boost at 4300 so gonna get it billeted hopefully should go down to 3700 so I've been told

tubbytommy 02 August 2012 01:12 PM

currently going down this route.

i am going to fit an md321t turbo,1000cc,injectors,front mounted intercooler,3.0,decat exhaust, tubular wrapped headers,3 port boost solenoid and remap.

this should see 4 to 450 bhp on a newage sti.

What is the 3 port boost valve? I have a 2 port what does it actually do, I'm new to turbo cars :p

tbh i dont know the technical bit about it but was told it just helps with the mapping as it gives better boost control.

if you speak to a mapper they will tell you your car will need one prior to remap.

With 3-port boost solenoid you should have better control with 3-port boost solenoid

And about the turbo,MDX321T billet is which we are running and is awesome, great turbo and billet T is really suited like 2.0L or 2.1

We are running and we are very happy :notworthy:thumb:

luckily enough i live 3 miles from zen, i popped in yesterday and spoke with richard, paul was out mapping i think.
im going to run the standard ecu at first then syvecs when funds allow.

to the op be warned getting to over 400 bhp is a costly process, dont believe anyone who tells you otherwise.

just unpacked the first part to fit.

Can we have some graphs from those with 400 HP blobeyes please?

I tried it and it was not good to drive, very unresponsive, engine lost lots of tractability.
