Twitter police

Is it just me, or is this Twitter policing thing getting out of hand?

The guy who threatened to blow up Robin Hood Airport was tried and acquitted now some guy who tweeted Tom Daley (Olympic Swimmer) and said a few harsh words in "helping police with their enquiries".

Where do you think this is going and where will it end?!

ScoobyWon't 31 July 2012 06:42 PM

It will end when a new fad turns up. Then it will go the way of myspace and facebook.

Wish 31 July 2012 06:43 PM

Did you see what this idiot wrote to Tom Daley ?
These people need to know just because they are behind a keyboard they cant hide.

tony de wonderful 31 July 2012 06:55 PM

I think it's cos he threaten to drown him in the pool. If it is just for the remark about his dad then we are becoming a nazi state.

I'm gonna come and find you and do a poo on your lawn!!

:D

I was going to post something about this but couldn't phrase it properly.

He was arrested for the comment about Tom Daley's Father and it is way out of proportion. Get abuse from Tom's fans and thrown off of twitter, maybe. Arrested? Absolutely not.

Boro 31 July 2012 07:09 PM

I have just read the additional tweet about drowning him in a pool which might have made things a little worse for him lol

Having said that, Lord Sugar called me a PRICK on Twitter. Maybe I could have him for defamation of character? Maybe not lol

.........

belliott69 31 July 2012 10:54 PM

To be fair if you read anymore of his tweets you would of seen many things that aren't right with the guy. Threatening people with guns and knives seemed to be a daily occurence for him.

Dirk Diggler 75 31 July 2012 10:57 PM

Some people are twisted full stop,Internet forums just give these people a voice to spout s**t .........

CharlySkunkWeed 31 July 2012 11:09 PM

but in the same way trolls hide behind keyboards , how do they think they will find the people they troll? Fair enough if its a celeb they could find them , but celebs have always had stalkers sending weird letters that AFAIK get ignored until threats get involved.

As for saying offensive stuff and getting arrested for it is unbelieveable. Comedians charge people to come and listen to worse stuff ! If it offends you , ignore it. If it threatens you with a crime , tell the cops.

ALi-B 31 July 2012 11:10 PM

Careful, what you post on here ends up on twatter. :o

But in the end of the day people have to be personally accountable for what they do and say. And maybe the UK has enough of its share of mouthy dimwits who incorrectly thinks freedom of speech means they can talk shyte and directly insult a individual.

Hopefully the Police won't take it further, and them having a word should have put enough frighteners on the lad to show a little more respect.

Long story short, I might have mentioned how bad the spelling and grammar was in one of his tweets and ironically, he came back with this...

:notworthy

pimmo2000 01 August 2012 07:37 AM

Two frames of mind on this, yes the little **** needed a telling off, but I don't think it was a police matter.

How many school yard comments have people made like this .. people do the "ya ma" joke to me all the time and I do it back, but my mother is dead, so technically I should be offended and calling the police.

CharlySkunkWeed 01 August 2012 07:44 AM

me too , dad died of cancer and last week a member on here wished it on Kim Kardashian. I was annoyed as no-one would wish it on someone if they ever seen the effect it has on a loved one. Didnt call the police though , he will still be a prick if he is locked up.

I'm sorry to hear that mate.

Too many people use the freedom and anonymity of the internet to be nasty for the lack of something better to do.
This idiot would not have had the balls (or reason) to say what he said to Daly's face, so why say it on t'internet?
Because he thought he could get away with it. Well he didn't did he?

I'm not saying everyone on twatter or farcetube needs arresting because they say boo or fall out with someone, but it's just poisonous behaviour and who needs it?

GlesgaKiss 01 August 2012 09:11 AM

The news made it out last night that he had been arresting for telling TD he'd let his father down. That's probably not even the case: as someone has said above, apparently there were a lot of threats as well?

Hanley 01 August 2012 09:15 AM

"Hello is that the Police? Someone has broken into my home with a gun and is holding my wife hostage"

"I'm sorry sir we don't have any units in your area at the moment"

"Okay, also someone has just called me a bad name on Twitter"

"Why didn't you say earlier sir, we'll be there in 2 minutes"

:D

vindaloo 01 August 2012 09:44 AM

3 months later the police will find child porn on this idiots's computer or similar.... Recipes for making explosives or whatever. IF that is, he's really a dangerous person... rather than an offensive bedraggled little ****!

sprigeteer 01 August 2012 09:49 AM

I'm hearing of more and more people losing thier jobs etc over post on the internet. In many ways I can see why. The internet is not a private club where you are having a personal chat to your mates. It's a very public forum and the lack of intelligence some people show is hilarious at times. The pendulum is swinging and the law is catching up with the technology, although it is over-reacting on some occasions. Generally though, the dim-wits who threaten and so on deserve to be brought to book.

Have a look at the video:lol1:

David Lock 01 August 2012 10:07 AM

I think the police involvement was way OTT BUT... it may have the effect of making others aware that offensive remarks may land you in trouble.

I think the cops should have confiscated his PC for a couple of weeks just as a reminder.

Who does he think he's going to be hurting FFS? :D

ScoobySteve69 01 August 2012 10:36 AM

Twatter and Facebook need shutting down and people need to remember how to get a life again.

Ciaran 01 August 2012 10:38 AM
