Sky Vs Freeview...
Before anyone says it I can't get virgin in my area.......:hjtwofing
Right, for the last 3 months I've had problem after problem and have now got to the point where my broadband speed is 0.8mb - I'm. On unlimited. I have just phoned and they have upped it to 2.6 and claim the upload of 0.6 will increase over the next few days. Here's my thinking. At the end of my sky contract is it worth me getting a hideous arial outside the house and going Freeview HD? Do they come with anytime record boxes now? I only have the basic sky package as I wank over, i mean watch most things online... So it it worth me going down the Freeview route? Can you get porn on Freeview? - joking :nono: |

Freeview is ok but you can buy hdd recorder boxes but it won't have on demand |
Also personally I would go of the humax freesat hd pvr route
|
As you have a dish, why don't you go for freesat?
|
Indeed - freesat HD
But, getting back to your broadband issue. What speeds did you get previously? My own for example, used to be around 6, then it got slower and slower until Sky said they had to cap the line at something stupid like 2. I kicked up a stink, they got BT involved and BT discovered a fault with my line at the distribution outlet. I now get 10. |
Surprised you have any time for porn with 2 women to satisfy

Even a chimpanzee would get bored. |
You want freeview TV, because your internet is slow?
|
I have the Samsung freesat box and my mate has the Humax freesat box. Both are very good but my only criticism of both of them is the remote control response is pretty slow and it is not that staright forward to sort your favourite TV channels into the order you want them. Yes you can do it but it is a faff.
Can't see how this will help your broadband problem though :D |

Are they not two different things? |
From his post, I'm guessing he 'watches' porn online, and he suffers buffering issues/dodgey connection and the varying quality (mainly very low) of "tube" videos.
So he's asking is there anything worth watching on Freeview i.e. a decent, stable, digital FTA signal/image. Unfortunately, as pointed out in post #7, he wont get his jollies going this route (or indeed Sky), decent image not withstanding. The "still stuck in the Victorian era", UK regulatory body, OFCOM, are the villains of the piece. :D :( His best bet would be DVB European motorised satellite fodder.... But even a lot of the hardcore channels on there has depleted over the last 2 or 3 years. And virtually all of it require an expensive official (or knock-off) smartcards. The key hacking opportunities has tailed off signifcantly over the past 2-3 year period. :( |
I didn't even think of freesat ...hmmm
We used to have all the channells and over time have stopped the movies, music etc and just have the basics. I'm thinking why pay Sky if I can get them free - as such. Although it has nothing to do with the broadband my experience with Sky has been pony and I feel it could be time to go back to BT. - Fiber and all that. My online viewing consists of: PORN - films - series - more porn - youtube - websites... :) I always have a few minutes to myself away from the ladies .lol Forgot to add... I don't know what my speed was before today - never really checked, Knew it was slower then the old house but assumed it was because we live further away from the exchange. |
