simplest way to up the bhp on my 215bhp impreza 2000 turbo
 

any ideas people am totally new to these cars!!! can i change the turbo for a bigger one and it be ok.........????? can i just chip it ???? bigger intercooler??? never had a turbo before:brickwall

Sell it for a WRX or an STI?

need the correct turbo..remapping will be required, dont chip it, bigger intercooler isnt really needed under 300 bhp

How much power you aiming for chap ?

im just aiming at another maybe 30-40 bhp nothing more mattyb1983 and craig the insurance was higher on the wrx, stis so bumped into this and see it was group 17 and it was immaculate so bought it.........it still sits with my mates 2005 wrx ok threw every gear which is also standard maybe my cars lighter or something im not sure .......really just looking for an extra 30-40 as said above to keep them vxrs and astra turbos etc at bay and enough to see them off id ber happy with 250bhp all day long so any ideas lol will just a remap and pipe acheive that?????????????? also i heard there was a prodrive pack avaulable for these when they came out is there any more???

I did it on the cheap with 2nd hand parts.

Its easily achievable mate.

Prices of STIs and WRXs these days are peanuts. The insurance will be more on a Turbo 2000 with mods to match that power so I don't see your argument?

I made the same mistake 4 year ago, bought a Impreza Sport and 1 month later I was in my UK Turbo because insurance was much and such.

But I am sure he has already looked at that thats what i meant its a ****ty comment.

Get a turbo , exhaust fmic or Sti top mount 440 Sti injectors filter give it to Si at jgm and it be very nice quick car

i had a standard uk bugeye with 215bhp when i bought it.. when i sold it it was running 280bhp/282 torque.. i fitted...

STi panel filter
EcuTek remap (by JGM)

didnt upgrade the TMIC and i didnt upgrade the turbo, i could have made slightly more bhp if i had fitted a decat up pipe too. if i upgraded the TMIC to an STi one and fitted some 550 pink injectors then i could have got nearer 320bhp but i didnt have the budget to do it plus ide have had to upgrade the brakes too..no point having all that power if you havnt got somthing that will stop you too.

Exhaust system with either a de-cat downpipe or sports cat,
Decent panel filter,
I'd stick a new fuel pump in just to be safe,
Mapping session.

Will see a nice healthy power increase but more importantly, will drive a whole lot better. Mapping is expensive first time round, expect to pay £550.

front mount is a good idea as bonnit scoop dont work after 100mph.air goes over the scoop.the main reson y big ends go.

my last uk car had hks decat system,walbro pump,induction,,newage intercooler conversion and headers and up pipe and made 260bhp nice and safely on enginetuners rollers,good 50bhp gain.

I went down the line of fitting an Apexi ECU rather than remapping what I already had. The results were more or less similar, but having a different ECU meant I did not have to rely on the MAF sensor.

im geussing i have yellow injectors would changing them for pink ones along with a walbro pump and just a new air filter either a decent panel or induction up the power alone?????? i have all these parts already and just wondered once all fitted will i gain bhp

also how hard is it to swap injectors

doubt you will see any bhp gains with them mods, besides you will require a remap for the injectors at least

But if he's looked, and has bought a 215hp car and insured it, then SURELY he ought to know that modding it will bang his premiums beyond what an STi or a WRX would have cost?

And SURELY, he'll be declaring the mods, because if he doesn't, he could end up uninsured and I, personally, don't want him running into me......You follow?

Hi fella. My UK Subaru was standard 215bhp when bought. After fitting a straight 3" decat, Walbro fuel pump, Green Cotton panel filter and having it remapped by Bob Rawle, it's now running 284bhp/317lbft with a graph to prove. It was road mapped and pretty accurate.

Tip: Source some second hand bargains to keep your costs down. My Impreza was £1400 and just became available at a convenient time after an insurance payout. Exhaust was s/h, Walbro was sourced new cheap, filter was 60 miles old and half price, and the ECU was already previously mapped/licensed so I just paid for a fresh map. £2,100ish it stood me inc. the car :)

What year is the car?

straight through SS zort + decent ITG panel air filter will see a good 20+bhp without anything else needing doing.

my classic was a 208bhp (MY97) standard car, the above saw me 238bhp on the Rolling Roads

Some people just don't understand....
