Olympics - 8 years to prepare and they mess up on day 1 (well minus 2 actually)

It's not even officially started yet and the Olympics is already presenting its first fcuk up.

The North Korean women's football team are playing in Hampden Park and the flag used is for South Korea...... FFS!!!! :Whatever_

Just about the most politically sensitive two countries on the planet and the wrong flag is used..... it beggars belief really!

SiPie 25 July 2012 10:02 PM

Someone could lose their 'Korea' over that mistake

Get my coat

I know. If there's any state to give no respect to whatsoever it's North Korea. It's just a shame for the South Koreans that their flag had to be used.

Some used toilet paper would have been more fitting.

specialx 26 July 2012 10:13 AM

Apparently they were TOLD to win 2-1!

Damn f1, you beat me to posting this thread. ;)

You couldn't make it up!

As said, talk about the most antagonist of countries to do it to! The utter, utter incompetence.  The UK will prob get nuked in about 2 months time! lol :D

This country is needing a damn good hoiking up by its ears - Tiswas style!

God knows how this opening ceremony will go............................! :o

Leslie 26 July 2012 11:25 AM

Regardless of which country was involved, it was a particularly stupid mistake to make and demonstrates a gross lack of competence.

SirFozzalot 26 July 2012 11:44 AM

A bit embarrassing isn't it?!? Let's hope their aren't many others!

From what I saw at the technical rehearsal on Monday it seemed to all go rather well. :)

joz8968 26 July 2012 11:53 AM

I really hope it does. We're Britain FFS - not some fly-by-night, tinpot country lol :o

Apparently though, very positive tweets were being sent by people who witnessed the rehearsals. :)

Are you involved in it in some way, then? :)

f1_fan 26 July 2012 11:57 AM

The company I work for has been involved in the construction and so a number of us were invited along to see the techinical rehearsal.

I thought it was a great show. It will be different watching it on the TV of course because the atmosphere in the stadium was fantastic.

I'm sure not everyone will like it and some will say it's rubbish and a waste of time and money but you will get that with every show on the planet. You can't please all the people. :D :thumb: Something like this will come under such heavy scrutiny. It seems there are lots of poeple out there hoping for it to fail and so that type of person will pick up on any little mistakes and make a big deal about it. The money's been spent so you might as well just enjoy it now. ;) :D

Thats the one bit I object to, its all just to try to outdo the other countries and its a hell of a waste I reckon.

I am however looking forward to the actual competition amongst the best in the world. I also subscribe fully to the Olympic ideal since I believe that sporting competition will improve friendly relations between countries and the people involved.

I watched the ladies football yesterday and was very impressed. The standard of play was top class and what a pleasure to not have to put up with cry-babies lying on the floor after a tackle hoping that the big act will earn them a penalty!

+1 :thumb:
Men's game consists of kick ball, dive when the opposition is near, roll around on floor and cover face with both hands.

Martin2005 26 July 2012 01:42 PM

Good to see the 'whingerati' rejoicing at the error.

^Qwerty^ 26 July 2012 01:42 PM

Fcuk Up No2: They have just realised that the curving roof in the swimming venue obstructs the view from some of the seats; it was mentioned on the news this morning. I mean ffs, what sort of moron(s) design a sporting venue in this day and age where parts of the building infrastructure would impair viewing ability?

It says the budget for the ceremonies is £80m, what's your issue?

Quote F1 'The opening ceremeny has cost £80 million'

No it's £27M

So my only 'issue' is THE FACTS, which of course you are being deliberately inaccurate with

YOU, yes YOU, said it was 80 million for the opening ceromony, you were wrong.

80 mill is for opening and closing for para and normal games.

Oh I see, oh ok yep fair enough.

A mere £80 million for the ceremonies in total and a paltry £27million for the opening of the main games.... well that's a bargain then :thumb:

It still means £80 miillion is being frittered away on frivolous crap!
