Mafless, switchable maps, launch control, anti-lag and more....

I am now offering Mafless/Speed density mapping of the 2001-2006 2.0 litre Imprezas. Let me explain what this means to you!

  • Not limited by your maf sensor. (380bhp usually standard maf in standard housing).
  • Uses air temperature sensor and map sensor to calculate 'load' resulting in a much crisper response, increased reliability and accuracy at all times and only limited by your map sensor. (Pink Denso map sensor rated to 1.55-1.6bar maximum, I recommend a 3 bar map sensor which I can supply).
  • Switchable boost and fuel maps. Run two types of fuel, two levels of boost or a Vpower and 95ron map. You decide.
  • Switchable anti-lag, mostly used for show pops and bangs, but can be programmed for aggressive use also.
  • Launch control, fully customisable.
  • Flat foot shifting, (requires installation of clutch switch on the majority of vehicles).
  • CEL flash in event of knock without loosing diagnostic code functionality.
  • Per gear boost control.
Important things to note, WRX cars must have TGV deletes to run speed density with the original ECU currently.

This rom currently rivals the spec of some after-market ecus at a third of the cost!

Price for all of this just £375 including fitting of an inlet temperature sensor and mapping 1 complete fuel and boost map with the second as a low octane and boost map only. + £75 for a 3 bar or 4 bar map sensor to enable boost tuning above 1.45bar safely.

Any questions and queries don't hesitate to ask!

Sounds good. Would this be a viable option if one wanted the option of running methanol? Could one feasibly fill up without methanol then just switch maps and vice versa for a Vpower map? Would it be safe to make that instant switch in maps as long as you had the right fuel in the tank?

EngineMapper @ Group B Motorsport 23 July 2012 11:07 PM

This is purely dictated on how good you are at being strict with how and when you switch and what you do to get to the point of switching. I would never recommend an instant switch at a petrol station for going between meths and vpower without draining the tank and accurate reliable measurement of meth mix and selected fuel. But this is the idea of the switchable fuel maps and it is feasible in the right situation that you could do this safely.

Hope this helps,

Graham

Looks like another lease of life to some OEM ECU users.

So my standard blob uk sti ecu can run al, lc, switchable maps? I was told it had to either be a jdm or 05> fly by wire to have these settings? So it is possible for mine also :)

I am currently running a ecutek map, so what would happen with this? And if i wanted to return to a ecutek map, would i then have to repay a licence fee?

Thank you for the info Graham :)

Yes you can run the Mafless map. Your Ecutek licence I believe would be lost but I'm not 100% sure on this as I don't use that system. The mafless base map would be flashed over whatever you had previously, so if you wanted to go back to that then it might be worth consulting your previous mapper as to whether they have a copy and are willing to reflash it on etc.

However, you won't want to go back :lol1:.

Give me a shout if I can be of assistance.

Not at this time, I know it's in the pipeline but it's not something I'm offering currently. Sorry!

How do you physically switch from map to map, ALS on/off etc?

I usually set up a switch for both, you can use various switches on the dash which already have a function, but the neatest cleanest way is an independent switch for both features.

I'm in on Saturday morning for it
Carnt wait graham is fantastic mapper really knows his stuff

Is this a ROM you have developed Graham?

EngineMapper @ Group B Motorsport 24 July 2012 07:21 PM

No, unfortunately I can't claim any input to the ROM at all, other than the odd suggested addition.

I've actually been quite reluctant to try it for some time, as I love live mapping on the Simteks, Syvecs etc. But I've done quite a few cars with it now and think it brings another cracking option to the newage ECUs and their abilities. It will never replace the capabilities and options of a comprehensive after-market ECU, but it certainly moves the benchmark where I would recommend a customer changing to an after-market ecu on these cars.

Sorry to dig an old thread up but sounds like just what I'm after. Do you travel or do vehicles have to be brought to you?
Thanks Ian.
