Khan vs Garcia

Anyone else watch it?

Khan started off very well, but it certainly went badly wrong in the third.

Ant 16 July 2012 02:08 PM

He definetly lost his legs :lol1:

Serves him right , referring to himself as a superstar and saying he deserves a fight with mayweather

jonc 16 July 2012 02:20 PM

Khan is one of the most over-hyped glass chinned boxer there is in the sport.

Indeed - he did a wee dance at the end of number three :D

Imagine how much damage Mayweather could do.

Ant 16 July 2012 02:24 PM

The first knock down I thought the ref was going to stop it

urban 16 July 2012 02:29 PM

Personally, I don't think the ref should have allowed it to continue for as long as he did

Ant 16 July 2012 02:31 PM

He looked more there on the 3rd knock down than he did on the first IMO

urban 16 July 2012 02:39 PM

Yep, after the 1st knock down, when he was being attended in the corner he didn't look as though he was on the same planet.

ditchmyster 16 July 2012 02:51 PM

He's a decent boxer, but he's got a proper glass chin, so putting him in with a guy who has knocked out 15 of his 26 wins was a bad idea, even if khan is a better boxer technically a knock out was always on the cards.

Add to that khan being a bit of a cocky tw4t these days, he got what he deserved, just like his mate Nassem Ahmed got a few years back.:lol1:

Boxing ring is a dangerous place and being better isn't always enough.

I'd like to see him do better in the future, but Mayweather would destroy him and probably end his career, or turn him into a Joe Bugner stepping stone type boxer, which is something he is close to being if he loses again.

Funkii Munkii 16 July 2012 03:00 PM

Khan is already showing signs of having taken too many punches, putting him in the ring with Mayweather could seriously damage him for life.

Glass chin and zero guard didnt help his cause, he took over 30 head shots in 3 rounds it was clear his mind was scrambled after the first knock down....

Ant 16 July 2012 03:11 PM

He's had a pop at froch today. Saying he just jealous I'm a bigger star than him :lol1:

Khan was battered

need4speeduk 16 July 2012 06:00 PM

Good boxer with world class hand speed. Sadly he doesn't punch as hard as he thinks he does, his stamina has always been questionable, his punch resistance is minimal at best, and his chin is far too fragile.

I think he'll probably go on to win other world titles and maybe even at different weights. Unfortunately for Khan, the negatives sighted above mean he will always fall short when up against anyone of real class and always be vulnerable to getting knocked out when in with someone who can really bang.

Once vs Prescott you can say was a lesson or a mishap, twice now in that fashion and sadly its a flaw in his boxing make up that will always be at risk of being exposed.

scoobyride 16 July 2012 06:30 PM

First time ive seen the fight and tbh khan did ok up till then. 1 punch can change any fight and it happened...

David Lock 16 July 2012 07:31 PM

I thought he took a full 10 count after the first knock down?

Garcia certainly hits hard and if one actully lands.......

The Pink Ninja 16 July 2012 07:40 PM

Naa, too be cocky and get away with it you need to be able to back your mouth up, like Muhammad Ali could, once you can back up your mouth then you can afford to be a cocky cnut. :)

Until then people should just STFU and concentrate on backing up the gob! :lol1:

Got to agree with you, as has been said he reminds me of Prince Naseem although not that bad yet!

jonc 16 July 2012 11:10 PM

God, he has changed!

It happens with a lot of sport people. Once they stop, they start to expand. One of our locals used to be a superfit circuit trainer once upon a time. In a few years down the line, he changed his profession and became a conservatory seller with a big house and a big van. One day, I bumped into him in a petrol station and couldn't work out who he was, until he said Hiya to me. I had to gaze hard at his face to work out that he was him. He had grown a proper beer belly and he matched his big house and a big van. He is well and happy, but if you knew him a few years ago, and met him again now, you wouldn't recognise him.

GazTheHat 17 July 2012 01:50 AM

Khan got found out again. He knew what he had to do and started by showing that, then either grew balls or totally forgot the teams game plan and started to stay inside and bang. Once he did that, there was only one result. Imagine if he'd stayed inside with Maidana?!!!

He's always been cocky and most boxers seem to be, just feel he has put himself on a pedestal too high. Even mentioning his name in the same sentence as Mayweather is a joke. I think it's because he's in the PacMan camp. He needed to win this and at least have some more bigger names on his CV before contemplating PBF.

I'm not sure he'll get another title now. He'll get picked for fights, rather than picking who he wants.

It's kinda sad to see him let himself go like that, from featherweight wbo, wbc and ibf world champion with a great record to a chubster. Still I guess he's happy with his less punishing lifestyle. Looks quite an unassuming little chap now, so if you picked a fight with him and didn't recognise him I'm sure he'll still give you a nasty painful surprise!

He certainly can throw a decent punch, but if that first punch had of landed cleanly on Khan, then he wouldn't have got up from it.
