If you are fed up with the 'Windsors' then I suggest you move to a country which doesn't have a Monarch and where you can be a citzen and not a subject....Somewhere that has a president as head of state....maybe a politician, who you know has the best interests of the country in mind and who works for 50 years representing the country and who widely respected through out the world...someone who's children also work hard for their country.....like Chirac or Bush....:(

she raises millions in tourism.
The Jubilee will be watched by millions, bring in thousands of foreigners who will spend their money.......which in turn helps improve our everyday life.

I hate it when people fail to realise how much money the Monarchy brings in yet they seem to focus on the fact that sh2 "does nothing".

If you don't want to watch the Jubilee "crap" then don't!

Wurzel 08 May 2002 07:34 PM

Blimey Jeff have you had a bad day :)

Wurzel Ex 3rd Battalion The Queens Regiment.

robin ledger 08 May 2002 07:39 PM

eh?

since when did Sophie and Edward work hard for this country?

or that Will bloke come to that? Or his dope smoking brother? etc.

You pay your tax, I pay mine. You work hard, I work hard.

Why should they be exempt from taxation just because they 'cut a deal' with the Tories when they were ruining the country - in mean in Government?

Jeff Wiltshire 08 May 2002 07:40 PM

Not really, I just find Robin Ledgers post highly offensive. I spent 8 years of my life in the armed services having sworn allegiance to the crown to defend the right of pr**cks like that to say what they like....Democracy....would want it

Jeff

robin ledger 08 May 2002 07:42 PM

"she raises millions in tourism."

how does she do that then, and where are the figures?

This is just a myth...

carpet 08 May 2002 07:50 PM

Think how much money the country could make if we did a public beheading of the royals !!

cool :D

They are leeches, the lot of em !!! We would still get the tourism etc, they dont come to see the royals, they come to see our history !!!

Shark 08 May 2002 07:58 PM

I have to say I'm with Jeff on this one.

That said I respect anyones views - it's a free counrty - I think ;):D

She is a council tennant in a council house.

robin ledger 08 May 2002 08:04 PM

I don't understand Jeff's views.

He supports peoples' democratic right to free speech - until they exercise it. That's a contradiction.

But, I'm not quite surre why he is sooo defensive of the Royals.

Tiggs 08 May 2002 08:05 PM

once the queen gets in and logs on it will only be a matter of time before this gets locked ;)

Luke 08 May 2002 08:06 PM

Pikeys and the Queen ,Dont like paying their way in this world.

That money could have done wonders to some House of Commons offices....(New wallpaper etc)

Jeff Wiltshire 08 May 2002 08:09 PM

I don't understand where your going with the Edward and Sophie arguement....Neither of them are on the Civil List and therefore you don't pay them a penny from your hard earned taxes....

The 'Deal' the Queen did with the previous Goverment was to reduce the Civil List and for the Monarch to pay Income Tax. Charles' income comes from the Duchy of Cornwall so he's not on the list either, nor are his children. So a least get your facts right for bad mouthing something others believe in.

....except when it comes to deciding the head of state.

Jeff Wiltshire 08 May 2002 08:16 PM

Robin

I'll defend your right to free speech, just don't expect me not to find it offensive or not to argue with you. I have a right to free speech as well.

It appears that there is a bit of controversy going on is there something I can clear up?

Tiggs 08 May 2002 08:26 PM

lmao

simonma 08 May 2002 08:30 PM

The Royal family generate far more cash than they would pay in Tax. Inheritance or anything else. Lets just call it comission!!!!!!

HRH Queen Elizabeth 2 08 May 2002 08:34 PM

Yes lets, I agree 100% with the last message entered.

Now it is time for one to retire for the evening and quoff a few beverages. So good night loyal subjects and One looks forward to conversing with you all on the morrow.

Jeff Wiltshire 08 May 2002 08:34 PM

I have have a question for all you Republicans.....

Given a free vote name the person you'd want as head of state

HRH Queen Elizabeth 2 08 May 2002 08:34 PM

Oh gosh one has aquired ones first corner! Gosh I'm thrilled. :)

Wurzel 08 May 2002 08:36 PM

As long as the Queen controls the armed forces and not Tony and his cronies I am with Lizzy.

paulr 08 May 2002 09:21 PM

Thats not the point mate, the point is its OUR country,so it should be up to us.

boomer 08 May 2002 09:37 PM

Wasn't tax invented in the first place to provide funding so that the King or Queen at the time could send out armies to invade other countries?

Thus, taxes are monies to be paid to the Monarch for their chosen use. If Lizzie pays tax, then the money should go to her anyway!!!!

Things seem to have gone tits-up ever since the government was put in control of allocating the tax spend

mb

BugEyed 08 May 2002 10:23 PM

Err, Income Tax was invented as a "temporary" tax to pay for the Napoleonic wars. Still, it is worth paying  for the quality of this country.

Now how about road tax? The Institute of Civil Engineers reckons that we need to spend £120 per tax payer on the roads to bring them up to spec. So how come we pay £150+ on VED?

Inheritance tax is an optional tax - careful planning means than you can avoid it. So lets be grateful for the effort put in by the Queen Mum during the war and leave it there.

Duncan ;)

carpet 08 May 2002 10:26 PM

 what effort did she put in ?

Timbo33 08 May 2002 10:26 PM

To the moderator.....

How come it's o.k. to express opinions about our Monarch in these threads but not call a Pikey a Pikey???

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=93893

Seems like a double standard to me.

Either we have free speech and can express our opinions, (however bigoted) or not....

(edited by me again 'cos I'm a complete novice at this hyperlink stuff.....dohhhh!!!)

lol- you see Tim this is the trouble with working for a living- you spend all day of SN then blunder in at 10.30pm and use a word (twice!) that would have got you deleted at 10am, got you beaten by 2pm, had you hung by 5pm and stoned to death by mad moderators at 8pm- god knows what will happen to you now!
