Hid issue

Hi one and all

First off i know hids are not particully liked on here but i won these on ebay for less then a tenner. As i do a lot of country lane driving i need some pretty good bulbs. Ive tried the normal bulbs that are meant to be xenon level brightness but found three sets of them wasnt good enough.

Ive installed the hids and they look really nice and bright except one side is brighter than the other. One side has a bigger ballast pack then the other as well. Could this be down to an earthing issue or even the ballast packs on the wrong side of the vehicle. The bigger one is on the passenger side and the slim one is on the driver side

Any help is as always very gratefull

Thanks all

HIDs should always be fitted as pairs, "bulbs" and ballasts. Changing one can lead to what you are describing.

You could TRY swapping the "bulbs" over, see if that makes any difference, if not, you are stuck with it, unless you can find the MAKE of "bulbs" and ballasts and buy another one of each to match.

They can even be brighter if they have been "burned in" differently. That means the amount of time they are given to heat up to full power, first time of use, BEFORE switching off again.

i have hids in my car and both ballasts are the same size sounds like you have odd ballasts which could explain the difference in brightness??

Cheers bud. I thought something wasnt quite right with them. Oh well cant complain got the set for less then £10

You couldn't GIVE me £10 to put them on mine: you'll actually probably have less light on the road on main beam............:(

Pmsl. Ive always had genuine xenons on my cars since 2005. I havent found them too bad but just gonna see how they go. Whats a good set of bulbs for a classic with cyrstal headlights mate. Ive tried 3 different sets now but none seem to be any good

Cheers
