Whats standard bhp on a 1995 classic turbo jap import

Hi all.
My mates just bought the above.
Just trying to find out the standard bhp.
Is it 260-280?
And what could it reach if remapped,
thats safe and not going to blow the engine.
Cheers lofty.

if it's the 260ps WRX (grey and black seats) it'll be around 250bhp :) The earlier WRX's were 240ps and they have the red and black interiors.

Wrx- black & grey seats

cant be remapped without an aftermarket ECU like an Apexi/syvecs etc. ESL remap may be another option but i'm not sure if thats only available on 1997/98 Ecu's.

MattyB1983 06 July 2012 08:20 PM

Yep, can be mapped by any of the specialists buddy.

RE BHP- back in 1995 it would I rolled out with 260PS, but that was 17 years ago. Would no doubt of lost a few since then.

300BHP is generally seen to be a safe limit but each car is different and needs to be judged on its own merits.
300 on one car may be fine, but 300 on another could end it.

what remap options are there on early classics?

Chipped ECU.
ESL board as they were for these early Scoobs first.
Apexi and FC comander (old now).
Various standalone ECU`s.

Me I'd go for ESL, then Simtek/Alcatec.

Will stick it on the rollers in a couple
of months.
