Connecting Andriod smartphone to iMac via bluetooth

Hi, been trying to send photos from my HTC to my iMac.
I've managed to pair the devices fine and are both set to discoverable but can't get them to connect properly.
Usually on the 'cog' setting button in Bluetooth settings there is a part to connect the two devices, however this isn't there on my HTC!

I changed the serial port settings to;

protocal RS232-
Service OBEX object push

and it connects for about 10 secs then disconnects :confused:..... help

Ok, tried this on an HTC I have here. Was initially getting the same problem as you, showed as added but not connected.

Have a look in System Preferences -> Sharing. You'll see a "Bluetooth Sharing" option, enable that and configure the settings. Once I'd done that I could send files from the HTC to the Mac.

The Bluetooth preference pane does have a "Sharing Setup..." button, but it doesn't make it obviously clear that you need to click that (takes you to the sharing pref pane) to enable certain things.

Once you have sent a file over, the HTC will display as Not Connected in the Bluetooh preference pane, but it seems to wake up and connect when you send a file.

I was not able to send a file TO the HTC though, Bluetooth File Transfer would allow me to select the file, and the HTC, but it never seemed to complete the transfer.

Hope this helps.

Sorted. Just changed the 'download and save button' and it works now :thumb:
