Reasonable price to respray scoop and mirrors

The paint on the bonnet scoop on my '03 STi is peeling (it's a patch about 4cm x 8cm) and the mirrors are a bit bashed up thanks to the fact that everyone round here seems to think that the white line in the middle of the road is supposed to go to the left of their offside wheels.

I asked a local body shop for a quote to respray them and they said £180. That seems a bit steep to me but I have no idea whether it's fair. They do do a decent job as they repaired some of the body work for me after a lorry kindly scraped my side on a roundabout (the driver did stump up the cost to be fair).

What do you think is a reasonable price?

I just paid £60 for a scoop respray mate, I thought it was a decent price

Since the scoop is considerably larger than the mirrors, on that basis £100 looks more like it. Thanks, you have confirmed my suspicion that the quoted price is too high.

Far too high. I got a front spoiler lip painted for a Cougar for £60 from the bodyshop, Sevenoaks. It isnt like a scooby lip either this one takes up half the front bumper and is comparable to at least the scoop and wing mirrors.

It would depend how the bodyshop is run, in the bodyshop where i work i'm on productivity bonus so if a job is going to take me 3hrs i need to charge the customer 3hrs labour and we're £35 per hr minimum:( + paint and materials +vat, to do a nice job on the scoop and mirrors would take a good 3hrs to prep, and the fine masking on the black viens at the front, then paint time and possible refinish time if required ect so the price quoted to the op is a fair one imo, eventhough i do strugle to justify the price i put on a job sometimes like to prep and paint a new mirror cap, by the time you prep it, put it on a stand, identify a colour, mix the paint, apply the basecoat ussually x2, mix the lacquer and apply again x2 with the required flash off times you've acctually spent an hour on it and need to charge the customer £35 labour £10 p&m +vat = £58 just to paint a new mirror cap!!! however there are other bodyshops that will just price the job, but you usually get what you pay for.

I wonder how mine was so cheap then?
