How much meat on a new brake Pad?
I seem to of acquired a muffled grinding sound when I apply my brakes, mainly on the front. But there still looks to be a good 5-6mm on the pad, and no scoring on the disc and barely a 1mm lip round the edge..
Does anyone know how much compound there is on a new set of pads? Blobeye JDM with the usual Brembos |
Usually 10-12 mm on new pads depending on car.

Just slotted in some bluestuff and there seems to be around 9-10mm on them new.

ah cheers dude, it isnt an STI, meaning my pads could be close to the end of their life?
|
It could be grit stuck between pads.
Take the pads out and clean the faces up with some sandpaper . |
I dont think grit would stand a chance against heavy breaking at 90mph
