James Then i have some more seam welding i want to do and a bit of a tidy up around the back where i have noticed the welding was not brilliant as i was welding above my head... that should leave just the bulkhead and front panel area... yes i will be getting a cage most likley going for custom cages multipoint, i need to just do some measuring before i order ot as they will leave some extra length on front and rear pickups. my plan is to get the welding done and clean the underside and give it a paint then get it the right way around again and start looking at the cage i may burn through in a few areas of the new paint but that will be easy to touch up.. |
Don't forget the pictures.

Making progress but doesn’t look much different, I’ve started to go around cleaning the old stonechip/underseal off and seam welding some areas as I go… also tiding some of the welding ect…
Hopefully with a good push this weekend the underneath should be in paint in a couple of weeks :) The floor is welded from the bottom now I still have some welding to do when it’s back on its wheels/stands along the sides of the floor and front inner arches. http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car51.jpg Also had a test fit of the front suspension for clearance, looks pretty good http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car49.jpg http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car50.jpg |

Eager to get back down to the car this weekend, left it on its side last weekend… it is on the Jig but blocked it up just in case something broke…
don’t want any disasters now!! http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car52.jpg Floor is all welded in now chassis number looks a bit dodgy!!! http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car53.jpg http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car54.jpg Hopefully will have some paint on the underside this weekend…:thumb: |
Got some primer on at last, surprising how long it takes cleaning the crap off from all the nooks and crannies... Would have been easy to get it blasted but all done now,
http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car55.jpg http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car56.jpg While it is on its side I decided to cut the hole for the roof vent http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car57.jpg |

Got the underneath sprayed in top coat, looks almost made to fit now all one colour,
http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/car/car61.jpg Rear cradle cleaned primed and couple of coats of smoothrite http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/car/car60.jpg It may have a trip across the yard so I decided to build the suspension up and see what it looks like, and what I’m missing which good news is only a few bolts and washers. Feels like a bit of a milestone http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/car/car59.jpg http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/car/car62.jpg The tunnel looks low at the rear hopefully the prop will be ok but I sat the diff up quite high so using a straight edge it looks tight… so tunnel may need a mod. |
Great work - that is going to really catch a few people out:norty:
|
Looking like good progress now. How many hours do you think you have put in so far?

Well I’m away for a couple of weeks so as the weather is starting to go downhill I decided to make it a bit more weather tight,
Roof Vent is now fixed in place will be sprayed with the car later. http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car65.jpg Forgot how much weight is in the doors, some of that will have to come out… http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car63.jpg http://www.ian-rachel.co.uk/Car/Car64.jpg Might have to look at getting a unit with doors on for the winter… |
Bloody hell slow down a bit, your going to be finished before me at this point..lol. Excellent work though looks good the wheels really suit it.
|
I would say that will be one hell of a sleeper, but the burble might give it away!! :D:thumb: Keep up the good work fella.
