Insurance anoying me now

Cheapest quote so far is 800 pounds, i tried a quote without mods just over 400 what the hell, its mental, only got alloys, exhaust, dump valve and spolier

Moley 22 June 2012 04:51 PM

Is the £400 an internet quote by any chance?

Frizzle-Dee 22 June 2012 04:57 PM

If you havn't done already, try Admiral

My insurance was due up for renewal this week and although I am still paying a fair amount due to my age, I was pleasantly surprised to find that mods didn't really effect my policy that much.
I was expecting it to go up by a few hundred! (this is for non-standard exhaust system, spoiler and after-market alloys) but lets just say, I finished the conversation with a big smile on my face :norty:

I would be very happy to pay £800, try getting a quote in Manchester........:freak3:

Also ^^^^ this!

I found that by doing comparison quotes, each mod has a set amount that it adds onto your policy. So if you run a basic quote and then add random mods for an example, youll see each one will effect your quote by an automated set amount.

Thats why you're better off just ringing the company and chatting to an actual human. (if your lucky enough to get through to one that is :p)

Both quotes were online and Admiral was the one who quoted me that price lol

And you've never thought of asking Moley or the other insurers on here because??

jaygsi 24 June 2012 01:36 AM

mickywrx 24 June 2012 09:45 AM

CharlySkunkWeed 24 June 2012 10:53 AM

Greenlight covered me with mods declared since my last company , for £50 less than my new quote.

jaygsi 25 June 2012 08:56 PM

The problem is if you ring up they spend ages grilling you then give you a pants quote

tubbytommy 25 June 2012 08:57 PM

+1 for moley

CharlySkunkWeed 25 June 2012 10:43 PM

Do it online , they email the quote , then ring if your happy.

jaygsi 26 June 2012 11:23 PM

jaygsi 27 June 2012 05:19 PM

CharlySkunkWeed 27 June 2012 06:20 PM

who with ?

SRSport 28 June 2012 08:05 AM

Do a price comparison with out mods and then go to the top 3s website and enter the mods individually. I get my quote down from around £1800 to £1100 each year by doing that.

I didn't pay that much to insure my first car, and I sure as hell wouldn't pay that much to insure my current one.

Comparison sites are a waste of time, IMO, for anything other than runabouts.

SRSport 29 June 2012 11:43 PM

Well its better than walking everywhere or public transport. Molley et al wont even give me a quote due to my postcode and yes it is more expensive now than when I started to drive 12 years ago. Currently I am funding all the people coming into this country scamming everyone else.

Rob Day 29 June 2012 11:57 PM

+1 for Gary.

Give Keith Micheals a call and ask got Gary, there is two Gary's I believe so you want Moley!

He's sorted mine, I'm happy.

BIG FUD 03 July 2012 08:27 PM

I pay £714 me and the wife on my porsche twin turbo and £550 on my 22b with 2 claims and 3 points speeding

Performance direct.

They take only your'e last claims in the past 3 years. Most companies like k micheals take the last 5 years. Im 37 fncb birmingham post code.

Larky 03 July 2012 10:10 PM

I just got a quote from Admiral out of curiosity. £1,345. How funny is that. 35 years old. 6 years ncb. No points, no convictions. Been driving 14 years. Car garaged and has next to no mods. Low risk postcode as far as I know.

I hope they ring me up tomorrow to ask me if I wish to take their offer up. I take it the mods are the issue but then insurance is such a lottery.
