Respray??? Will it affect value??

Hi I have a blue blob sti. Thinking of doing respray to change to custom paint job.. How will it affect resale price?

marcevs72 17 June 2012 10:01 AM

most people wont touch a car with a custom paint job as whole car would have to be redone if and damege to a panel etc.

try plasti dip do it urself

hodgy0_2 17 June 2012 10:10 AM

It will destroy the resale value

Any buyer would factor in a full respray to turn it back to original, and if this is more than the car is worth you may find you have give it away before the next lot of insurance and ved is due

Best bet would be to do a vinyl wrap

yehh looking for full respray incuding everything got someone who will do it. just need to know how it will affect value of car

you wont be able to give it away with custom paint, have it wrapped in your style and colour at least you can peel it off when you sell it.

want to spray in pearlecent purple with black roof and spoiler. think it will look really good and be one of kind. nothing to custom like airbrushing but that is my idea

if it's WR Blue - don't repaint it, wrap it or buy a red or green one and do whatever you want to it.

yehh its wr blue. was thinking it would really mess up value of it if i sprayed it might be worth just wrapping it then

It depends on how well its been done , I bought an 08 M3 nearly 2 years ago and had it stripped and resprayed to a better than factory finish , they have done a very good job , plenty of numpties on the M3 forum were saying i've spoilt it and its worth feckall ect ect , but when I put a thread up thinking of selling it I had 2 people who wanted it , but then changed my mind and kept it.

I guess it will never be everyones cup of tea , and people will think the worst that its been damaged why its been painted , if you get it done just keep a full photo record of it being done

Mine looks amazing and i'm very happy I did it :D

PlastiDip looks neat, a spray on vinyl, does it come in WR Blue? lol (I'd be able to buy a non blue scooby if it did)
