hawk 2.5stiuk vs hawk 2.0jdm

which one of these cars would come out on top in a 1/4 mile drag race, with both cars lightly modified ie 350bhp assuming both cars are driven by competent drivers. cheers.:)

The JDM as the 2.5 would of broken down before the finish.

Closer gearing and slight weight reduction and quicker spool of jdm vs higher torque of uk car, depends how good the maps are as well, but probably very close.

IIRC

The Sti JDM is the same weight ish to the UK the Spec C is lighter ;)

Actually the gearing differnces is more associtated to the fact UK revs to 7K and JDM 8K.

The UK cannot reach 60mpg in second yet the JDM can

I'd agree fairly close on a Drag strip but reckon JDM would still pip it ;)

But you'd really notice the difference on a track or road, where you can not be at "Optimum Rev" the JDM response is awesome at any rev and would eat a UK alive....IMHO

Now i'm going to put kettle on

I think the uk sti is 1495kg and jdm 1460kg, but spec c is about 1395kg but I had a uk car and now a jdm and think the gearing would be better on 1/4 mile, just the extra torque of the 2.5 would maybe make it very close, so I wouldn't like to say, a missed gear change on either would let the other win. But would still rather have the twinscroll myself

Twinscroll ftw

tubbytommy 15 June 2012 09:12 PM

the 2.5's head gasket would fail halfway down.

The JDM due to lack of under-seal will rust losing weight half way down giving it a power to weight ratio advantage.:lol1:

LOL but the JDM has disadvantage of the extra wieght of the rear wiper. ;)

Tony

And the extra weight for the electric motors for the folding mirrors ;-)

ScoobyDoo69 18 June 2012 10:25 PM

JDM by a decent margin.

Any extra torque of the 2.5 would be wasted on a drag strip when you are actually going to rev the engine and work it hard (F1 cars have little torque but go rather well). I'd say the JDM would win, but only just as the power, weight etc is all similar. Also, the twin scroll would be faster through the gears with a better spool.

The twinscroll 2 litre doesn't outspool the 2.5 trust me on that one! :thumb:

Very good though the twin scroll is, when it comes to boost threshold and response there aint no replacement for displacement!
