Bomber!

Took the old girl out for a drive last Saturday and upon coming home I gave her the usual inspection. Found some oil mist on my inner wing that I identified as PAS fluid.

On investigating further I found that my HP PAS line was leaking a small amount of fluid through the core of the hose.
I removed it before it failed, caused a fire or worse.
I took it to my hydraulics shop for a second opinion. They were very helpful as always and put the failure down to heat, and the hose being used slightly outside its rated pressure.
The shop made me up a brand new heavy duty hose there and then free of charge.

I've also been cutting the car up again. Although I'll let the photos do the talking here.

Glad you found the route cause of the leak before any damage was caused to the Bomber!
Bonnet is loooking good, can't wait to stare at the final result at the next meet, always seem to spot something new whenever i see your car!

AWG 15 June 2012 05:29 PM

Great job so far Frayz, may I ask what do you use to bond that to the bonnet?

frayz 15 June 2012 05:36 PM

Black sikafkex mate.

AWG 15 June 2012 06:03 PM

Of course :wonder: :D

That hydraulic shop came up trumps for you, can you see any other heating issues arising? Spose not now with this mod!

frayz 15 June 2012 06:15 PM

Nothing under there seems to get hot to any level anyway Andy. Everything is either wrapped, nomex covered or ceramic coated.
This is why I was do surprised the PAS line decided to fail.
The vent I primarily want because I've always wanted a genuine works vent as well as taking advantage to dump heat out.

Over the last 8 years I've concentrated on performance only. Now I'm adding my aesthetic touches to create a car that emulates the Tarmac spec S7/8 works cars.

Yes but wouldnt use them again as I was never quite happy with the job.
