I was sceptical.....

But after much whinging from a couple of mates i have fitted a PTP T3 style turbo blanket to my classic.

And stone me they dont half work well! Temps underbonnet are well down and there is a genuine increase in response lower down the revs nothing drastic but it is noticable, i did a couple of low rpm pulls with and then the next day once cool without and there is a genuine improvement.

The quality is very nice aswell, seems nicely built.

Got a bit paranoid though as they smoke quite a bit when first fitted!

Highly recommended!

Davey

Stupid people ignore heat management :) makes a huge difference.

ScoobySteve69 11 June 2012 05:40 PM

I`d get one but I haven`t got a clue what turbo I have :lol1:

The standard PTP subaru one fits most from classic 90 degree TD05 to the latest VF48's :)

L.J.F 11 June 2012 05:51 PM

They are quality for sure, I was able to touch the turbo jacket and not burn my hand even after a 30 min of spirited driving!

i tried to buy one when I installed my turbo and they sent me the wrong one so i sent it back and fitted the turbo. Now I've read this i feel a little wounded :(

Looking for one for a VF43. Is this a T3 or T4 or what? The listings just say fits all T3 or T4 turbos.

I have a vf48 and would be interested in a link

Surely without a jacket the turbo can expell heat, does the hugely increased heat that the turbo will have with a jacket on not effect the turbo at all ?

bugblue1 11 June 2012 09:06 PM

where do you get these from,as got no heat guard or anything on me turbo?

Either help spool the turbo or out the waste gate i would think

MattyB1983 11 June 2012 09:25 PM

So is there no negative effects on the turbo from the added heat it will be under ?

Davey96wrx 11 June 2012 09:28 PM

This is a link to the same one i got

At the end of the day the extra heat keeps the gasses hot which mean they move faster which is a good thing.

modern turbos are both water and oil cooled and are designed to be at the extreme end of heat, i cant see any realistic negatives for a good quality turbo blanket tbh.
