HELP.... Leaking Boot
 

Hi Guys wonder if i could get some help.

My Boot on my WRX Blob is leaking i believe from where the Spoiler is connected.

Its causing a build up of water in the Spare Tyre Well.

The car had a STI Spoiler fitted to it before i purchased it.

Any ideas how to fix this problem or indeed could it be something else?

Be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar issue and if they resolved it?

If you still have a spoiler, remove it, clean it well along with the boot lid. Apply some silicone sealant to the mating surfaces before re-fitting it - it's most likely coming in the bolt holes.
Also another common leak area on classic's is the rear light, i know you have a newage but got to be worth a look?
Also check the boot seal all the way around to make sure it's seated properly.

So what did the searches you obviously did, say? Since you were so interested in what others had found/done?

Well Most of the searches indicate that it could be a light problem and most of the searches had post by you in them so draw your own conclusions.

When I took my ironing board spoiler off for polishing the boot. Due top a build up of grimme at the base. On refitting I put rubber O-rings round the holes stuck with a bit of silicon. The big spoiler fitted now was bonded when fitted so will take the paint off IF I try to remove it.

Okay I'm a complete newb, How easy is it to take the spoiler off? I've had a look and can see two screws attaching the sti spoiler?

Non-setting waterproof mastic.

It's the right stuff if the lights need doing too;)

remove spoiler, (sorry, mine's a classic, so I can't advise on how many screws...I know mine has two BOLTS showing and two more under the bump-stop rubbers), then make a thin line, about 10mm diameter around the spoiler base and any holes through the boot.
The one on the spoiler base should be about 30mm from the edge.

Replace spoiler and retighten.

Any stuff that does leak out can be removwed with white spirit;)
