Alarm Issues: Help please!

Hi,

My alarm on my MY05 Wagon is playing up. Went to open the car boot today with fob or key, would not open, so had to open from the indside manually. I assume a solenoid or whatever has died on that?

I then washed car and then went to take it for a drive. Got in car and will not start. Locked, unlocked again, still nothing, immobiliser seems to be on preventing a start. Door lights not on, so it thinks all closed.

Now it has started making chirping noises when I arm, disarm, it has not done this before. They are quick alarm chirps for a split second. All doors are locked, so that is working.

The car does have black jax on too, but car not has been started so that cant be on.

What do I do? I am in the RAC, but assume they will not be able to help.

Ideas, help please.

I am in Castle Donington if anyone knows someone who can take a look for me or help.

thanks

update: central locking now going nuts, on/off nonstop! cant set alarm either

I have removed the fuse to stop it going mad. When I was near the fuse box, it sounded like a relay was going nutz/sticking.

Not knowing anything electrical, not sure what to do :/

First thing to do is hook up another battery to the car via some jump leads. Sounds like you may have a flat battery

can a flat battery cause all this? I thought that at first, but stereo etc came on. Will give this a try in a bit, cheers.

Can a battery go from fine to dead in a few days, just like that, as it was not shown any signs of getting bad?

Yes certainly can cause these sort of problems

I experienced exactly the same symptoms a few months ago!
I solved by taking battery off and giving it a full charge.
There was no logic in the battery being flat or run down other than the fact that the car is only used at the weekend.
A Scooby quirk seems to be my conclusion!

what is weird though is how 4 of the 5 doors unlocked fine. Will try the battery once another car arrives home!

I have not got the 4 digit key code for the keypad to turn alarm on/off, will I need that if battery swapped?

No. If its the battery. Should just need to put jump leads or a charged battery on. Lock and unlock a couple of times with remote. Then start up

turned out to be the battery, thanks guys!

battery was not working very well after testing it, but tested the drain on it and that was fine, so nothing was killing it.

Changed battery and all seems fine, inlcuding my door locks :D

panic over!
