SK+HD question about the hard drive...

Quick question:

Getting a replacement Sky+HD box tomorrow as my current one is faulty.

However, we've got a load of stuff on the existing HD...... can I remove the drive and run it as an external drive?

Or is there a way to copy over the recordings?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Why don't you ask the engineer if you can swap the hard drives over, I think that is what my brother did as he had all the star wars films in hd on it

Sky since deleted them on him though LOL

You don't really want to swap the hard drives over: Most of the time the thing that goes wrong is the drive just getting worn out. The hard drive inside a Sky+ box has a hard life as it is continually being written to every second you have the box on (even in stand-by mode).

They won't swap hard drives over, to maintain some sort of warranty with the box they have to be sent to Unipart where they can fix to box using a diagnostics rack etc in a anti static room

My brother did, but not sure if he did it himself or the engineer who came out to do it did it for him

I'm sure Dan that you would be able to find a downloadable version of whatever it is that you want - that's what I did when I switched to the 1TB box
