Bc camber adjustment?
 
Hi all.

I have the bc's fitted to my bug, and have always wondered what the markings are on the top mounts? Ie the lines on the top mounts is each marking a fraction of a degree and if so how much?

Hope that makes sense lol.

No, don't take these as actual figures. Get the camber set by laser alignment. Don't forget that you have camber adjustment at the hub and depending on what is already there, the BC top mount could show either side of the 'zero' mark after alignment!
The graduations would represent a different angle (degrees) depending on whether the strut was at full length or full compressed.

The geometry has been set correctly, I was just wondering how much of a degree these markings repesent, as at the moment they a central.

But for track days I'd like a bit more front camber, and was wondering if I can acurately adjust using these markings?

So if for example its been set at -1.5 at the front, (I need to check the actual figures) and I'd like an extra 1 degree negative camber, how many lines it would be?

I dont want to start fiddling without knowing how much extra I'm dialling in.

The only other way to figure this out is to pay for another alignment to be done, but was hoping someone might know the answer before I pay out.

If you could measure the length of the strut from the centre of the wheel to the top mount as it sits, then it's a matter of calculating using trigonometry. EG If the strut was say, 520mm then the movement to get 1 deg. would be 0.0174 x 520 = 9mm (sine 1 deg. X 520) Just measured mine and the divisions on the BC are 3mm which in the above example would be 20min. You do need to know the ACTUAL strut length, though.

If you adjust the camber the toe will change as well.
