Alcohol, how long

Does it keep?

Just been through one of our cupboards, to have a clear out and forgot we had so much alcohol in there lol

Some of the bottles of wine have gone cloudy/ syrupy so their outside.

But the spirits / liqueuers, dont really know what to do with those..

We have:

10 year old single malt (now 20 years old) but has been opened for over 10 years

Gin Opened (10years)

Apple schnapps Opened (10 years)

Stroh 60 Opened (10 years)

Port Unopened (10 years)

Dark Rum Unopened (10 years)

Champagne Unopened (10 years)

Any ideas, what will be ok or what should we should sling

Anything that has been opened, sling it.
Anything without the seal broken, hang on to it.
Champagne, I'm not sure. I have a bottle of Moet I was given when my Son was born 21 years ago. I have been told it will be like vinegar now :(

Anything close to 40% will be fine, have a good Saturday night drinking game special!!

Had similar recently. It won't kill you to try the open ones. Champers has probably gone by now. Spirits should be fine. Cheers, dl

Stroh 60? Lightweight. You want the Stroh 80! :D

If the champers has been stored vertically then bin it, the cork will have dried out and the contents will be gash. If it's been stored horizontally to keep the cork moist then ENJOY :)

Champers - generally best drunk within two years of purchase with the exception of properly cellared vintages.

Spirits - Opened or unopened they'll be fine. Alcohol is a very good preservative.

The wine - just try it, if it tastes of vinegar then bin it, if it tastes ok then drink it.

The above is the best advice.
I'd TRY the champagne too: you might get lucky. Just don't reserve it for a special occasion.

Jeez, you lads want to see MY alcohol cupboardS

There are three and the amount of bottles in one has pushed the back off:( ALL spirits or cocktail stuff around 20%.

Beer and wine in the garage;)

mart360 08 June 2012 01:02 PM

I would say bring a bottle lol :D:D

As youve probably gathered, were not drinkers, so more than likely most will be binned

If the air is allowed to get at it,it will turn into vinegar.
