fitting avcs heads to wrx
hi,
my bottom end has gone so im thinking of putting in an sti engine into my bug wrx, has anyone fitted these heads before, i know they go straight in but i was told there are about 8 wires each side that need looking at. help? |
you'll need a different ecu like a simtek or syvecs that can run avcs and then make up a loom
|
unless of course its a jdm wrx

It's quite straight forward, I've done it to mine.
I used a std newage STi loom, and made a mini loom for the extra sensors using part of a loom from a STi. You can fit the avcs engine into your WRX and run without avcs initially if neccesary. |
I'm running AVCS in my 2002 bugeye WRX I've used the redundant tumbler wiring which has been extended into the AVCS connectors. The main harness was then re-pinned into the syvecs ECU.

If you have or can get a spare STi loom, or re-use the TGV wiring that's good...otherwise we sell a standalone AVCS loom for just this purpose. It has a multi-way connector at the bulkhead allowing the engine to be removed at a later date if needs be :)
Not put it on the website yet, but it's £129.99+delivery+VAT and for that you get a nice, neat, professional loom :) Suitable for any ecu but some wire cutting/joining is inevitably necessary at the ecu end. http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...loomecuend.jpg http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...mengineend.jpg |
ive got a simtek ecu anyway but i was looking for a ''step by step'.
so i can still drive the car without wiring the avcs heads and may be get the mapper to wire these in for me ? |
