The Apprentice - Final

So, who's gonna be hired?

My money is on the wrestler

They've announced the winner! I won't say just incase someone reads this thread and hasn't seen it yet :)

I think the decision was a good choice actually and should do well for him/herself

It's the first time i've watched a whole series (late starter, got hooked half way through last years) and i think it's been brilliant.

Right person won IMO

I wouldn't like an interview with one of Lord Sugar's advisors!

I only caught up with the last two episodes after the first one. Ricky Martin sold himself well to the TV show with his childish CV, didn't he? He got put through, and then proved that he wasn't some idiot but a driven business person. The runner-up's foggy eyes make him look p!ssed all the time, which makes him quite suitable for his wine business. That little one with big hair was a bit cocky, I thought. The girl was okay, but I don't think Sir Alan Sugar is that desparate to put his money into a call centre. So, yeah, right one won IMO.

The minute Rick won, I wandered back off to District 9. He is dire :(
Bad choice, Sugar with the bent finger :D

Jamescsti 04 June 2012 03:24 PM

I agree, I thought he was a bad choice too, none of the finalists business plans were amazing or revolutionary though to be honest, the call centre business killed her chances at the outset.

Why was Ricky a bad choice? I didn't see the whole of The Apprentice, so it will be intersting to know. If not him, who should have won and why?

Sugar had to choose someone, even when none of them stood out like a North Star. This TV show keeps the viewers engaged all the way through, to eventually see the winner. So he would have had to pick one of them. I think he will do a slow-release of his money to his new business partner, and see how that goes. Sugar has had a bitter experience with that Stella, so I think he will now trod very carefully with these recruits from his TV show.

I just didn't feel Rick was a likeable bloke. His idea of a recruitment based business was not new, it was old hat, but safe. Sugar went for the safe option with someone I would never dream of signing up with, if I was inclined to ever go to an agency. We shall see. I don't like Sugar and I think he picked someone exactly like himself, rather than a challenge or risk. Disappointing to say the least.

Hmm. I do agree with you on Sugar's selection for 'safe' than 'challenging', which is kind of boring for the viewers. I did pick on that that when he gave that reason to the 23 years old foggy-eyed Will Young lookalike to reject him, although he had a very good track record of driving his business to great profits within merely two years.

I thought that reciepy website was a good idea, where the user can buy all the ingredients for a reciepy in 1 easy click...

No one seemed to like it though? :S

Yeah. It was also a jolly good idea, and I hope that the Jamie Oliver and Boris Johnson's lovechild does do well with it of his own back. Now this example contradicts that Sugar, in his own words, went for the safest bet. I think recipe-and-direct-access-to-right-ingrediants website would have been an easy money earner at the click on the keyboard. But what an established businessman like Sugar would want what meets the current demand 'big style' with least sourcing, and most benefit to his business. Recipe idea is easily copiable as well by others, which means quickly developing competition to face up to. About Ricky's idea, recession has put some very well-qualified people out of jobs. A recruitment agency with the focus on scieintists and ITechnicians should do pretty well in this climate. Idea may be old, but its application will be in the needy market. Wrestler does have degree in Biochemistry and has done some recruitment agency work, so he shows his competency to add a specialised recruitment arm to Sugar's business. His business plan may also involve placing scientists and Itechs globally, a there seems to be a demand for it out there. Sugar is usually product-based, so this recruitment business seems to be a new challenge for him. I remember one of his chronies saying something like that on the show.
