This is a thread blast from the past get in touch with Andy hughes on here or via facebook im sure he is still fabricating them also the gearbox cradles
|
Personally I'd rather have a tubular subframe that's manufactured by a professional. Supported and tested by a respected company.
A subframe that has been used on some of the uk's fasted subarus, in various disciplines including drag, time attack, circuit and hillclimb. Basically tried and tested. Chances are if your at a point where you need a tubular subframe, you've got a very fast car. If part of that subframe fails whilst you are tramming on, you could have a very nasty accident. Thats why I bought the SD Motorsport subframe and cradle. Do it once, do it right |
I thought Andy hughes subframes were good and I'm looking at these and also the wisefab hubs to shed weight
|
What does your car weigh now Scott? What make and model is it? There probably a load more weight to be saved else where for a lot less money than fancy hubs. I have the lightest "circuit" Subaru in the country and I still didn't bother with stuff like that. The only 2 cars. Lighter were Clive's and mikes and they are drag cars
|
Hi Joe
Not sure what it weighs at the minute as haven't finished the weight loss program. It's a classic impreza. Spec so far for weight loss Titanuim wheel nuts Quick release front and rear bumpers Tube front end Light wheels Sparco grid qrt seats (just ordered) Carbon boot Carbon bonnet Carbon roof Epas system All sound deadening out Wiring harness redone Dash bar lightened Dashboard lightened Race car heater Small battery Small washer bottle Basically anything that can be removed has been To be honest subframes are my next biggest thing just were to get them and the hubs were more for geometry Unless you can suggest anything else |

Do it once, do it right He is no longer working on this stuff so it doesn’t matter to much,, but it was all tried and tested over and over on professional rally cars on various conditions and he makes replacement parts for a lot of WRC cars and also for WRCspares.com so knew how to make them to the highest standards ,, so saying he isn’t professional is just wrong ,, DM motorsport is no longer trading though |
Just to be clear, at no point did I mention Dave Matthews or his products. I'm fully aware of the standard and quality of Daves work. My comments were'nt aimed at him, thanks

Has prob supplied more t45 subframes in the uk and yes they are proven as stated above. I hsve a plus 40mm rear and a gearbox cradle and they are a work of art... And the best price your gonna find. Mikee singhs drag car also has a t45 tubular front end fabricated by Andy... Not to mention his own car. I have also ordered a front subframe from him... |
I have rear plus 40mm t45 subframe and gearbox cradle and deleted t bar with t45 braced to rear top mounts all supplied by Andy Hughes.
They are a work of art and welding is top notch. He also fabricates t45 tubular front ends as mikee has one on his 8 sec car. Hes the man too speak too 😉 Really good price aswell.... Will be ordering his front frame asap. |

Has anyone ever produced a tubular sub-frame by machine? (i.e: Cad designed then CNC machined)
I wonder if such a thing is possible or is being welded by a human the only option... :wonder: |
