tubular subframes
hi guys
anyone know of anyone fabricating or selling tubular subframes in uk :wonder: |
yes the rear should be ready next week ish and then we shall be starting on the fronts,,,guide price will be £800 fro the rear with rose jointed rear arms

well the rear tubular subframe is nearly done,,,anyone wanting one let me know(send me a pm) as they are only being made for a very short time and in limited numbers

Here's mine unfortunately I got it imported from the states.Steven Darley is in the process of designing and making a tubular subframe as well at the moment you will know steven as he drives the yellow lateral banana.

Domino46 are you going to be making the t bars as well this is mine to go with the rear subframe.
Attachment 56739 This was from TSS as well they have sent me extensive pics of their front tubular subframes as at the time I was going to get one imported but never got round to it interesting design they have to incorporate the front anti roll bar on the same lines as the WRC ones |

yes mate we will be making it all as soon as we can get time but we have so much to try and do its just one of them things that is on the list to do

Steve its all down to saving weight approx 10 - 15 lb so I don't need to go megga horsepower on the car (power to weight ratio etc) keeping it in the same region as the old spec-c , by the time I had priced up adjustable lateral arms rebushing the o/e rear subframe all the rear sway bars etc etc it was on par with importing the whole of the subframe with all bushes adjustable links etc etc also I have 2 adjustments on the rear subframe mounting which allows me to lower the car to keep the rear drive shafts level even with adjusting the coil overs if you know what I mean the engines going back in the car in the next couple of weeks so then I can get the geo set up as at the mo its only set up by eye and a bit of string :)

yea no what you mean im only running 440 at the mo and it does just fine,,,,can you pm me how much you imported it all for as it would be good to know how much they are from the states got the wrc boys setting mine up and they can be quite secretive about it at times but as long as it works who cares :thumb: |
Hi Domingo, nice work! I was considering making something similar as an experiment, but ended up stiffening the standard subframe instead!
How far have you moved the lateral arm pickup points up? And will it work with the standard underfloor tank or is this for the fuel cell boys only? Are you now solid mounting the diff? |

Think its fair to assume anyone going for an £800 aftermarket subframe wont be running standard ride height, so id be interested to know how far your moving the lateral arm points up before they interfere with the standard tank!

Dont think your seeing what im on about here fella!
If you drop the car, the wheels stay on the ground and the shell/subframes/etc drops around it, therefore inclining the lateral arms and pushing the suspension roll centre through the floor and creating a few undesirable suspension charecteristics like reduced compression camber, and jacking. For the front, whiteline do a roll centre adjust kit which compensates for lowered cars. At the rear, the only way to apply the same effect is to move the lateral pickup points on the subframe up! I assume your doing this or your missing the major point of an aftermarket subframe! Therefore, if youve got as far as you have, you must have already have found that the limiting factor of moving the suspension point up is keeping the clearance from the forward lateral inboard bolt, and the standard tank! Ideally the points would shift up by the same amount as the car is lowered, but that is definately only possible with an in boot tank, or by moving the point rearward in car. If youve kept standard geometry, I cant see much take up for £800 as the 3.5kg weight saving is the only advantage, and theres much easyer ways to save 3.5kg! Just my £0.02 |

Just my £0.02 yeah i know what you mean mate but to be honest im not the chap making thme just the chap offering them but i can find out and pm you with the answer,,,the bloke that makes them knows his stuff and builds about 30 rally cars a year so i cant see it being just for show but he doesnt do computer hense me putting it on here,,,,,,he is currently hand fabricating me a steel wrc kit aswell which i thought was good of him :D |

Domino i see you have the subframes on the bay but looking at the pics do you have a fitting for the rear adjustable links to take the ARB c brackets ??
