Tyres- goodyear vs vredestein vs falken 452
 

I am looking to source a set of 255/35 R18s but the more I dig the more I can't decide what to do.
Everyone seems to sing the praises of Goodyear Eagle F1 Assemetric 2s but they are dear at £680 odd, on here people seem to say Falken 452s are good and at about £495 are alot cheaper but on independant review sites the Vredistein Ultrac Sessantas seem to get alot better reviews than the falkens and at £530 are in a similar price bracket.
My cars a daily driver doing about 15k miles per annum but does also get a bit of stick now and again so while I certainly don't need full on performance/track tyres I don't want to go with something with no grip or will wear out in no time at all.
Opinions? :wonder:

I had eagle f1's on my car when I bought it and the grip was incredible. When it came to getting new rubber I couldn't afford the f1's so went with falken 452's. They are a great tyre in the dry, not as grippy as the f1's but still a great tyre. In the wet they also seem pretty good but then again not as good as the f1's. Up to your budget really. I've heard good things about the vredistein's but have never used them. Also the eagle f1's do wear quick when you start pushing on I found.

How have you found the wear on the 452s in comparison?

The 452's don't seem to wear as quick, I think the f1's were a much softer compound though.

Currently on Vredi's, and liking them a lot, would 100% buy them again.
Came from Toyo T1-R's which I thought were well over rated, good when brand new but noticable lose of grip from half life.
wear rate is also brilliant, as long as the car is set up alinement wise well.

Not tried the others you have mentioned, only read peoples reviews.

I have used all three on previous Scoobs albeit in 225/40/18 sizes . I found the Goodyear to be brilliant in all conditions but heard a lot of stories about soft sidewalls and did have one tyre start to crack on the inner wall but not until it was due for replacement anyway . I then tried the Vredies and also couldn't fault them until I had them rotated and unfortunately they were put on the wrong side of the car making them lethal in the wet . I didn't realise this until the guy fitting the Falkens pointed it out . This brings me on to the Falkens , they were good in the dry , fair in the wet and appeared to be wearing well when I sold the car , they were considerably cheaper but they were pretty noisy and I found them to tramline pretty badly but taking the price into account I would say they performed very well .
Out of the three I would now pick the Vredies everytime , they out perform the Goodyear and cost only slightly more than the Falkens .

Looking like I'll be going for 225/40s as well after further research but Verdis looking like the best bet especially if theres any issues with soft sidewalls on the goodyears with the stretch I'll need for the 9.5" wide wheels. Going to transfer over the 225/40 Yoko Pradas I have on my current wheels with 3mm odd tread to start just to get an idea of how they look before deciding on tyre size for sure though.

I have Vredestein Sessantas on my WR1 after Pirelli P Zero Rossos. The guy who refurbed my wheels fitted and and balanced tyres. The Sessantas needed a lot of weights to balance out and have just had them rebalanced after 3000 miles to correct a tremor at motorway speeds, apparently the original balancing was incorrect. Again a lot of weights needed on two wheels. The car drives ok on them but given the issue of a lot of weights wouldn't use them again.
