De-cat down pipe???
 

Hi guys an girls,
I'm thinking of geting my 2005 blob Sti a present, the decat down pipe, but I hear I should have it remapped an had a quote today to supply an fit plus remap £888 is that a bit steep?

you should get it mapped or you could take it easy lol yes take it easy then get the map. what other mods have you done and are you getting the full turbo back system?

Its standard apart from the ppp, an was just thinking about haveing the 2 cats removed? I'm new to owning a Subaru only has it 4 months so need help! :D

from what i been told and read on here,yours should be a open remap and that should not cost anymore than £350 maybe £400

ppp had a differant backbox and yes you have 2 cats ,so you need to source a middle section ,i do believe scorpion do one for less that £100 ish then you can have a 100 cell sport cat in downpipe best one i think is scooby world at £300 and it will pass mot .

full decat then check private adds or traders on here on ebay i got a classic second hand one derlivered for £50 or just buy new ,

full decat will need remap though

That price does sound a bit steep!

We do the new decat downpipe for £189, fitting would be £96, and the remap £299. Thats £584 all in inc VAT!

i would presume at that price it includes a full "custom" car specific map on your car also and not just some generic "one-size" fits all rubbish........

We would need the car for around 6 hours to do the work.

Hi mate , i take it you know of a nice friendly mot garage , Personally i would leave on the ppp cat on the car, and just get a second decat , that way youhave no problems at mot test .

For that fitted and a open source remap custom to your car would be £460 including vat
and you should see some figures of 320 hp . 320 torque

"Alyn" hasn't/didn't imply anything................if you want to take general advice to heart then crack-on, these cars need custom mapped correctly to save any potential engine issues or failures and that advice is freely given

+1. Unless you're going for higher power figures the PPP cat won't start restricting it too badly until you get nearer 400, and there's the added bonus of not having to nonse about at MOT time.
A couple of friends' cars got to nearly 400bhp on the PPP sports cat downpipe.

You can pickup the prodrive decat pipe or equivalent for silly money nowadays - £50 or even less if you're lucky.
Add a Harvey up pipe for better spool and more torque - £150 more or less and it'll transform the car. Mine achieved full boost nearly 500rpm earlier by fitting that.

Mapping wise, I've always used Simon (Jolly Green Monster) and he's always seen me right, but I know some people prefer open source because it's cheaper. Nothing against either, I just went with ECUTek as it's what I'm used to. I picked up a second hand ECU for about £75 that already had an ECUTek license on it, so didn't have to pay the rather big fee that the initial license cost adds on.

As stated you'll also need a remap to avoid potential problems the new parts can introduce if run with the OEM map.

Mapping prices will vary from place to place, also depends heavily on the software used, we use EcuTek to remap Impreza's so we'd charge £499 inc. VAT for the first map, for a car that already has an EcuTek license we charge £299 inc. VAT, that's mapped in house using our dyno and includes your graph printouts to verify the bhp gains.

You can pick up a new decat downpipe for around £180, budget two hours for fitting, it's normally an hour but bolts can seize ect.

Yeah I would be happy with keeping the down pipe as it is then just replacing the cat under the car the straight pipe bit, and have an ecutek3 map.

I'm looking for a little more power and having it on the dyno sounds good to me!
