We're having a big street party.
We moved into a new build in December and as we're all new we thought it would be a great way to get to know one another better.

Besides, practically all of us have kids around the 4-8 age range and it will be a great memory for them, I remember the last one when I was 4 years old.

We've got a bouncy castle, we've hired trestle tables, we've shared out the food between us all and the kids are having a fancy dress competition, we've got a PA system to play the music and we've arranged games etc for the kids.

We're doing a quiz, each house will ask questions on a specific category and we're also doing hot food such as pizzas and curries etc for the evening.

I'm looking forward to it, we didn't need council permission as the road is not adopted yet, the builders have agreed and they're going to wash all the roads the day before and they've chipped in £100, in return we're going to take a few snaps with the builders logo in the background as they're hoping to put it in the local press to promote the houses that are currently being built.

The builders are also having commemorative coins made up for each of the children that now live on the estate.

:)

If you don't give a toss, why bother to mention it?

I have nothing in particular planned but I do support the Queen and congratulate her on her long service to this country.

Thursday night, Friday, Sunday and Monday, I will be jumping in to the lake with my dog, aiming to pass his Level B water rescue exam. Tuesday, I'll be recovering.

On the Saturday, I have to force myself to go to a Hen night to provide a hog roast for 35 mainly single women. Who will be drunk. Not sure how I'll cope. :lol1:

Don't you find it ruins the full effect when you stop halfway through to write a post?

Les,

Maybe he's ambidextrous ;)

As for the queen I think she has done a marvelous job over the past 60 years and long may she continue.

Slightly O/T (but linked nonetheless)...

What 'bothers' me is when she passes over (or abdicates), we'll have Charlie at the helm. Do you really think he'll carry out the office of King in the same exemplary manner as Her Madge? Without any annoying or serious controversies, etc.? He's surely too 'outspoken' to be able to do so?

I fear we'll never see the likes of Liz again (although Wills seems on the level...).

So, AFAIC, it really is a genuine case of "Long live our gracious queen".........

Leslie 28 May 2012 11:14 AM

I think Prince Charles has a genuine feeling of loyalty to this country and I would expect him to do a decent job as monarch. I think it is only fair to give him the chance without pre-judging his abilities.

Had a nice Saturday in Weybridge, Surrey. Started off at the green where there were a few things for kids, slides, sweets etc. I enjoyed a late breakfast thanks to some of the local eateries, and then brunch, and then brunch again :)

1pm and we moved off to the other end of the High Street, Sullivans, where I sank many (paid for) beers and listened to a free musical performance from a couple of guys and their guitars, all under a wonderfully warm Sun.

They did it this weekend because apparently a lot of the local shops will be closed next weekend.

Cheers Liz :thumb:

Of course. :)

And, whether we like it or not, he will be King. ;)

Les, I usually never disagree with you, but on this one I do. I think he is scum. He was sexing with Audrey Roberts, whilst he was marrying Diana. :nono:
Wills to take over from Her Maj. I adore the Queen, and only Wills would be good enough to take her place, in my eyes :)

lordharding 29 May 2012 06:55 AM

I'm busy
Friday I'm handing over 510 medals to all the children in our town with other Councillors

Saturday morning we have decorated our council chambers ,are dressing up with t shirts and silly hats ans are hosting a Councillors tea party and listening to all the groans and moans from people

Sunday big church service

Monday on top of the church tower at 10pm lighting the beacon

An0n0m0us 29 May 2012 08:12 AM

We live in the most unfriendly close you could have the misfortune to live in and so no street party happening. That is a good thing with what a bunch of w4nkers they are. There is a party in the village as far as I know so if the weather is good we will walk the children down to it.

I wish we had neighbours like Hanley's, great for the kids and I was 3 when the last one happened and can remember it (about the only thing from that long ago). I dislike our neighbours so much it makes me want to move house away from the South East to a more friendly part of the country.

Evolution Stu 29 May 2012 12:48 PM

Im am using it for a Scottish driving holiday Friday - Monday, then going Diving all day Tuesday. Perfect. :)

I have never heard of someone called Audrey Roberts. Is that another name for his present wife?

I don't approve of his behaviour as far as Diana was concerned either, I felt very sorry for what she had to put up with.

I still think that he has the basic ability to be King, he has not been slow to state his opinions in the past, only time would tell though. I think it is unfair to accuse him of being incapable of doing the job until we see the evidence.

The eventual loss of the Queen will be a bad blow for this country.

Sorry Les, force of habit. I think Camilla is the double of Audrey Roberts off Coronation Street :lol1:

In that case, I blame the parents. If Charles didn't have an 'arranged' marriage, he could have carried on sexing with Camilla, and Diana's life wouldn't have been wrecked. The doublecrosser can be given a kudos for his everlasting love for Camilla who he climbed the mountains for, and he radiates the message that looks (with personality or without) aren't everything to make someone 'love' you. Well, of course not. Love is blind. I mean, Prince Charles isn't exactly a Brad Pitt, but beautiful and gentle Diana didn't mind marrying him. Shoite happens everywhere.

Anyway, have a good Jubilee weekend, everyone. :luxhello: The Queen looks cute as ever.

marcevs72 31 May 2012 03:20 PM

i will be going for a nice ride on dartmoor on new bike and stopping at plume of feathers to raise a cold pint for my queen that i have loved serving.
