Insurance for a low value car?

My trusty RB5 has over 200K on the clock but is still going strong as my daily driver.
Seeing as it is only worth about about 50p (well, maybe 2 grand), it seems a bit harsh to have to fork out 25% of the car's value for insurance.

Is this just a fact of life for running a Gp 20 motor, or is there a better type of policy available?

They are incredibly high risk cars for insurers and unfortunately (in our experience anyway), the lower the value, the higher the risk!
