Voltage drop

Any one had probs with a voltage drop on the pump on a newage?
Poss to do with the module in the arch near the pump?

Cheers

Morning

How do you mean, voltage drop?
Across it's terminals? Or inline?

The wiring is notoriously thin on Imprezas......

Yes across the terminals.
So that pump don't get the full voltage
Cheers

When any electrical device is running, there should be a potential difference, (difference in vltage) across it's terminals. Without that, it can't push the current through.

Out of interest, what PD do you have a cross the terminals when it's running?

Becareful with the VOHM there.

You can blow out the box controling fuel pump duty cycle. It just mean you need to run a relayed power from the bat to fuel pump.

But note, The scoob runs a 3 step duty cycle. So unless you are a full power.

The voltage will be less at the pump, due to the fuel pump controller.

Not usually this unit is either working or DEAD.

Whats the problem that you are trying to fix?

At this stage not sure what prob is so just want to test everything related.
My 650cc maxed out at 405bhp.
Mapped said they should be good for 470 ish so my have fuel pressure prob, got fuel pressure gauge which am going to install to check pressure while running and before changing anything.
New pump installed (rcm) before mapping.

On the newage does the ECU not control the pump by altering the voltage, ie if giving it max the pump is given max voltage but when driving round sedately the voltage is stepped down. I am sure I have seen this somewhere, as was wondering about it for when I fit my Bosch pump from the swirl pot.

Am running simtek, think these are dif aren't they?
Don't they just turn pump on and off as such?

You need to give us full and complete information for us to give you any meaningful feedback.

Running a simtek info and putting out 405hp is not enough info. Was the IDC maxed at XX %.

Whats your AFR closed loop.

alcazar 20 May 2012 10:58 AM

I was advised to go for 740 injectors in my 400/400 2.5 build.

Hope this helps.

MY03 WRX STI
2.1 stroker
MD321T
Simtek
650cc
RCM pump
FMIC
Headers and up pipe
3" full decat
Intake pipe
3 bar map sensor

After 2.1 engine upgrade, when mapped injectors maxed out at 405bhp, 100% duty cycle.
After speaking to mapper was told there was poss fuel pressure prob as with engine spec should be seeing more power and injectors not maxed out.
AFR? Don't no answer to that.
Hope the above info give someone better idea.

Cheers

Am guessing the info dint help then
