Women in bra's
Tonight's the night, if your around London you may see 15,000 women power walking in their bra's .

Soon there will be more events raising money for breast cancer than there are sufferers. Why single out one type of cancer ? What about testicular, prostate throat lung etc, this selective cancer support gets right on my tits.

LPB - not really any harm raising funds ect is there? or people getting a chance to get involved. cant really think of a negative tbh. plenty events for other cancers, i just do monthly DD to a few cancer charities - as i dont have time or motivation to get involved any other way. is that an intentional pun at the end? :) |

In 2007, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) estimated it spent only $1,415 per lung cancer death compared to $13,991 per breast cancer death, $10,945 per prostate cancer death, and $4,952 per colorectal cancer death. In addition to the NCI, the Department of Defense also funds research for breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers, among other diseases, but it does not fund research into lung cancer, this country’s primary cancer killer. |

I have issue with the fact that prostate cancer effects the same number of people as breast cancer yet has significantly less funding same as lung cancer which effects more people and has a higher mortalilty rate yet once again has less funding that breast cancer.
There is an issue here that diseases that mainly effect women get double the research funding of diseases that effect men. To me the vast extra publicity and effort that is involved in breast cancer awareness and research is a bit like saying **** you to sufferers of other types of cancer. I cannot imagine why you would have to disciminate and only raise funds for one and not the others. Whats wrong with a walk for cancer in general or isit the fact that women won't turn up if there is a chance that male cancer sufferers may get some benefit of their efforts. As for fund raising, the women organise these runs to raise money for breast cancer as it obviously affects them more than men, even though some men can get it. Men should do the same. Get organising lads, run for prostate cancer or whatever else it takes to get more money raised for research. We like having you around. :thumb: |

still dont think t does any harm atall tbh. the problem is lack of funding for other cancers not that breast cancer is over funded. lee also i dont think the fact that less men get checked off there own back is relevant either. i think the problem lies with the other cancers not having as much public support, or interest - although i agree there just as, if not more serious. More public awarness and support imo :thumb: |
Women are just more organised than men, besides, as far as the media are concerned, men do not get cancer, only the poor wimmins are afflicted :rolleyes:

I have lost a lot of relatives to this vile illness and I am all for more awareness, however it is. I donate regularly to cancer research and will continue to do so :thumb: If anyone on here does Movember, you can count on me for support. If I miss it, send me a pm, that will show in my emails :) |
