Whats the Best way to clean the engine without taking the thing apart?

Is steam cleaning an option?

Has anyone had any problems having this done in the past?

Personally I would not use a steam cleaner .

The method I used in the past is(not a scooby)

Cold engine
Cover battery, alternator and other obvious electrical items
Using a soft brush and degreaser and rinse with a watering can (careful where you are pouring it)

When finished run the engine up to temp to dry everything out. I used AG engine degreaser to good effect and WD40 works well on the plastic bits

There is a thread somewhere on here that gives pics of how to clean engine bay, what to cover up & what products to use. Whatever you do make sure that you do it correctly or you could incur some damage!

had a look for that thread in regards to a pictorial guide but cant fine anything anyone else know where it might be??

i ushually use some G101 or megs cleaner spray on aggitate with a brush then jetwash off depending how bad it is as to how much elbow grease you will have to put in
