Power steering issue
I was wondering if anybody could help me,
I have just finished a big engine build and i have started the car up all is fine apart from steering pump screeches when turning on idle and nearly comes to a stop, I have had an alloy -10 fitting welded onto the top of the pump for feed in from new tank mounted near strut brace passenger side, from rack returns with a -8 braided pipe to top of tank and using original fitting on top of pump for high pressure side i have changed the pipe from the rack to a -6 teflon pipe. Steering works fine but pump is constantley making a tiny wining noise. No airlocks and fluid is correct for the car. Just when ticking over and you turn it nearly stalls the car as the pump wants to sort of stop. Cheers mickyboy |
I've read some time ago on Nasioc that the stock line has a small restrictor built into the lines.Maybe the larger/unrestricted flow of the pump is overwhelming the rack, or lets the pump cavitate.
