330bhp Type R - £325

Comprehensive cover :)

That's the renewal I've just had through from Aviva. Great I thought... I looked at the some of the small print:

All non standard damage £500 per claim (hmmm... the majority of my car is non standard)

Excess £650 (How much of a claim would I need to make to break even, given the next 4 year loading too?)

Are these type of figures normal?

Why the £650 excess? To keep the premium down?

I've been insured with Aviva (& N Union before) for a fair few years - they always come in with pretty much the best price.

I don't think I've ever asked for the excess to be raised for the better price, that's what I got I think is the way it worked

I used to be with them, the excess kept creeping up each year to £650, then the last renewal I had from them said there was an additional excess (£300 i think) if you didn't use one of their garages, so went elsewhere. (£100 excess now)

get a stand alone excess insurance policy

£59 per year covers £500 excess

we sell loads of these

That's interesting. We're with Aviva on the mrs' uk Impreza and it's only £400. My insurance on the sti is up for renewal and didn't really consider them as I thought they didn't cover Imports but after your quote I'll give them a try.
