CR-V Rear Brakes MY 2003

After 86,000 the CR-V finally as a fault!

We have changed bulbs, wipers and the normal consumables but it's been faultless until now.

The rear right outer pad is wearing down to the metal after about three weeks. No excessive driving, speed or heavy breaking. The caliper was renewed, sliders are good and all the other brakes are OK. I not sure if it's relevant but it's a petrol, manual box.

Ideas?

Duff wheel bearing?

The story unfolds. The CR-V was due an MOT so had the lads at Three Arches Garage in Cardiff have a look. Dean and Dan are both ex-Subaru Franchise spanner chuckers and are doing some excellent stuff for us locals` (free plug lads :norty::thumb:).

Not long ago the misses took it to Halfrauds for a check up and they replaced the pads and tried to persuade her to replace the discs as the radial (very minor) scoring was a problem. She said it's OK and just do the pads. These wore down as previously said in three weeks on the outer rear right caliper.

What the Three Arches lads found was that the pads where in the wrong way!!! They have a weld spot on the back and it was resting against the piston and was on slightly all the time. You can se where the piston has been pushing on the weld.
The new pads where fitted also had a three prong gripper that fits into the piston to pull it away when the brake is released.

She's off to Halfrauds for a word later, pity them .

Love the CRV. Has ours 8 years, not missed a beat.

Glad yours is sorted.

I'll post some picks of the pads, we kept them as evidence. So far they do not want us to contact Customer Service or Trading Standards and want a face to face at the branch.

The misses helps write compliance policies for HMG and they have met their match I think :norty:.
