Just read about this in Autocar....

Anyone any spy pics yet?

Knight Rider 05 May 2002 10:49 PM

Well, the redesign rumor has been flotaing around almost since the day the New Age Impreza was first introduced. There are no reports of any spyshots and of course no comment from FHI.

Still, the timing (september) would make sense.

But IŽve said it before and IŽll say it again. There is nothing wrong with the New Age Impreza that a pair of Morrette canŽt fix :D

"Meanwhile the Prodrive reskin of the Impreza is confirmed for the Paris show this September"

I think I have a Spyshot... but can't upload... if someone lets me know how, I'll post it up.

I'm sure it is an 'artists' impression.... was on a Japanese site...so I couldn't really get much info on what it said... but it would seem to fit in with the reports of a windscreen forward restyle and from what Dave TS etc said, it was unlikeley that they would make major changes... so this pic may well be pretty accurate...I guess we'll have to wait and see. I think the car looks 'tighter'at the front, and better for it.

Could you post the url for this japanese site?

look almost like corsa headlights..bwaaaa haaaa haaaaa! max power!
they nicked yer bonnet scoops, now you nick their headlights hee hee hee hee!:D:D:D

what a missed opportunity:(

so instead of the bugeyes, they make it look like it's dozy and falling asleep

just looks like morettes with glass front and indicator in same place as bugeyes as well as prodrive spoiler - not exactly mega-change is it?

I'll stick to my 02 when it arrives :)

I think it looks pretty good. :)

...but it does look Photo Shopped.

The headlight on the left looks wrong, especially around it's out edge...

Still, if we do get a facelift - I'd seriously think about another Impreza if it looks like this picture.

Rich :)

I think it looks worse  All this photo looks like is that of a Jap STI 7 with reshaped lights. The clincher is the wheel style, the super high scoop and the roof vent.

My largest objection to the standard 'bug eye' is the orange indicators on top of the lights that make the 'eyes' look droopy. This makes it look worse.

I think this all comes from a Japanese belief that inanimate objects have a 'personality' Cars that have 'faces' sell the best over there and so this and the MY01 styling reflects that belief.

IMHO front lights in single lenses(Like the TVR Tuscan or Alfa GTV's) or skyline style lights look the best.

HKSubaru 07 May 2002 09:39 AM

yeah...they always mess up... they pictured a legacy as the new impreza shape when the new shape was first heard of.

DJ Dunk 07 May 2002 09:42 AM

I like the new lights. Kind of squinty and mean looking ;)

Tiggs 07 May 2002 10:45 AM

how on earth is that pic supposed to be anything other than an artists imp. the new look hasnt been released so why would FHI be allowing decent pics like that at this stage??? wake up!

Tiggs

ps- old shape/anti MY01 ppl- GIVE UP! your car is not coming back ;)

scoobynutta555 07 May 2002 10:49 AM

It still looks crap. And where are the bonnet vents?????

stephen30 05 June 2002 10:21 PM

Still with the indicators in the top of the headlights :(

Does look more a photoshopped effort than real, I'll reserve judgement till I see the final thing :)
