Hello Folks,

Can any of you technical boffins answer a very strange technical question regarding my MY02 STi7 UK Prodrive.

When driving on the motorway at about 70 - 80 in sixth gear, and pressing my foot very gently on the go go pedal, the car seems to accelerate very strongly. When doing the same speed and flooring it, the car does not seem to accelerate as strongly.

Now before you all call me completely mad, I have been thinking about asking this question for quite some time, but previously decided not to, because of all the grief it would attract. This definately happens, and I have now experienced it on many occasions.

Is there a technical reason for it ??

Cheers
Darren

Gently squeezing the throttle is always the best way to go. Flooring it means the ECU has work hard sorting out the fueling, air, boost etc. I find the smoother I am with the throttle the quick the car goes, strange but it works for me.

Might be something to do with the fact that when you squeeze the throttle it's still in Closed Loop for a while so running more efficiently (or nearer target Stoich) and WOT means going stright into Open Loop which will run richer.

That's my best guess anyway....

Matt :)
