Classics with 17"s show yourselves!
I have recently lowered my car by 30mm on 17 inch new age rims. The car handles loads better but it doesnt appear to look any lower!
Could you please post pics of your classic with 17s and detail what suspension setup you have so i can compare. Thanks |

This is mine on 17`s. I have standard sti shocks, with Apex lowering springs. They are supposed to be 35mm but couldnt tell you for definate. |
I have a 2000 turbo, are the stis lower as standard? That looks a lot lower than mine at the back
|
I was told the sti has a slightly lower ride height, but honestly couldnt tell you.
I do have a set of lowering springs for the rear from my last classic. where abouts are you, as you are welcome to try them out |

Here's my Type r when I bought her on std WRX struts and Tein S-tecs. Absolutely TERRIBLE on all but smooth roads. Otherwise crashing on the bump stops, and poor overall grip levels due to the adverse handling induced by the overlowering
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-u...P1000924sm.jpg Here it is on 'red' STi struts and P1 springs (1" lowered). Sooo much better :) https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-y...0/P1010132.JPG |
my type r is very crashy on the back roads too, what springs and shocks do you rec? and when you say red sti shocks are these off the new age?
|
The shocks are late (V5/V6) red coloured, combo'd with P1 springs
The springs were produced for the P1 and are not as firm as the STi's which are bouncy on UK B-roads etc. The P1 spring will give more of a 'float' firm, but comfortable and compliant :) https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-O...0/P1000979.JPG |

what sort of money are the p1 springs there and where can they be bought ?
Used ones are around though, and the thing with springs they don't wear out anything like the dampers. I think the P1 springs (and red struts) are hands down one of the best solutions for a road going classic :) |
I may have too look into these, cheers for the advice

Both on KYB's with eibach pro's.
