Full decat for anti lag?
Hi all,
I've got myself a simtek ecu to go with my other mods as part of my power upgrade which include the usual, 550's, vf34, walbro, STI tmic, cold air feed and full decat except the downpipe currently. The ecu has the anti lag and launch control activated on it so am going to make the most of it and install a couple of switches to use it when I fancy it. My question is, is it worth getting a full decat or will a sports cat cope with it? The only main reason I'm considering the sports cat is for mot time. However if the anti lag is just going to disstroy the sports cat then I may as well get the full decat and just get a cat pipe when it comes to the mot. Any help appreciated. |
Just go full decat inc uppipe
Im sure you can find a decat mot friendly garage if you ask quitley sshh! |
I recently bought a 2nd hand tsl thundercat (suposedly antilag friendly) because i wanted to make a gesture to the mot tester especially considering the new rules about cat deletion being an automatic fail.
Its also nice to know you stand a chance of passing a roadside check. I dont know if it would actually survive being spat at by the turbo, i doubt it because it looks like a normal monolith element to me. Even if it stayed in one piece theres overheating and fuel flooding that would probably harm its operation. I also went for a centre pipe without a resonator because of keeping the cat. I figured the cat would damp noise somewhat. Dont know if its correct logic but i'm gonna try it |
Just go full decat it's the only way lol, and for mot time the day before stick an old down pipe on with a cat in

nothing like popping and banging and scaring coffin dodgers :D
