JDM STi Widetrack

Just wanted to know what years they started making the Widetrack JDM STi. Was there a late 2004/05 model?

JTinnovations 17 April 2012 07:47 PM

It was the 2005 Model Year (MY05) which was launched in Japan in September 2004 I think...I have one that was imported by Litchfield in October 2004 so is a '54 plate (well, it would be, if it didn't have a personal number plate lol) and I've never seen an '04 plate MY05.

I see, but 54plate you have. I am pretty sure they come in 04 plate aswell?

tubbytommy 17 April 2012 07:50 PM

my05 is the changeover year but you can get some on a 54 plate.

The Pink Ninja 17 April 2012 07:52 PM

Yep, They were out on an 04 plate the JDM model, It took Subaru/FHI 12 months to water it down and make the Type UK model :D

JTinnovations 17 April 2012 07:55 PM

All I can say is I've never seen one on an '04 plate - it would have to have made it in to the UK before September 2004 and I don't think that happened.

I'm pretty sure Iain Litchfield was the only one who could get them through the SVA at the time...might be different now.

Loool

Just out of interest how much would a well sorted mint JDM 04 widetrack STi with 36k on the clock go for?

tubbytommy 17 April 2012 07:56 PM

the widetrack is called the my05, i.e. model year 2005.

JTinnovations 17 April 2012 07:58 PM

I really don't believe an MY05 would be on an '04 plate...I'm just digging as I have the info somewhere!

KAS35RSTI 17 April 2012 08:01 PM

We need Tony Burns

786omar 17 April 2012 08:06 PM

Just check if it has DCCD-A and 5 x 114 hubs, that should determine if it is a proper widetrack...

yes my 05 has rear arch extensions and revised interior, easiest way to spot one.

JTinnovations 17 April 2012 08:07 PM

MY05 was released in Japan 1st August 2004, although I did see a report of a test drive in July...so theoretically possible to have imported one before the plate change to 54 in September.

unlikely to be many kicking about on an 04 plate though

rickya 17 April 2012 08:10 PM

I have an 04 MY05 jdm sti sidetrack. Before that I had an 05 MY06 Litchfield Hawkeye Spec C!!

JTinnovations 17 April 2012 08:10 PM

Indeed - and as I said, I think Litchfield had the monopoly on getting them approved for use in the UK, and he never had any '04 plate cars to the best of my belief

Aha! A litchfield one? Must be very unusual on an '04!

rickya 17 April 2012 08:15 PM

Sorry for late edit. But this 04 MY05 is a non Licho. The MY06 Hawkeye spec on an 05 plate was a Licho.

Interesting - do you know when it was imported?

Date of first registration in Japan 1st July 2004
Date of import into UK 14th Aug 2006

Hey I wonder if mine is the first one ever registered!!

Semion 17 April 2012 08:27 PM

Is it possible to change just the wheel hubs from 5*100 to 5*114.3 to convert the my03 car into my05 widetrack car? Will the 5*114.3 hubs fit 2003 driveshafts? Will have also to change the brake disks and wheels, of course. It seems the hub difference is the only one between these cars, and the newer hub bearings are much stronger, it is good for hard track days driving. Does anyone in the UK try to make this conversion? Thanks guys.

£8.5k to £10k

JTinnovations 17 April 2012 08:28 PM

Wow - must be one of the very first then. Nice :) Think what I'm remembering is that there were no brand new imports back in 2004 due to the Litchfield SVA monopoly, but importing one later was probably much easier.

So, there are probably a few '04 plates around now, but none older than July 2004 I imagine.

rickya 17 April 2012 08:31 PM

I think Subaru Japan may have registered the first batch of the widetracks on the 1st July 2004 & mine was one of them. Wonder if I can tell by chasis no?
